Of the 7 Star Wars films, what 2 are your current favorite ones and why

Re: Of the 7 Star Wars films, what 2 are your current favorite ones and

My favorites are A New Hope, Return of the Jedi and Attack of the Clones.

A New Hope is far ahead for sentimental favorite, but Return has to be way up there because there just aren't many movies with a triple climax. Attack of the Clones, if only for Amidala telling Skywalker that democracy is a bunch of people getting together and deciding what should be done, which shows rare political sophistication and decency, at least for Hollywood.

Oh, and HAN SHOT FIRST!

Color me disappointed in your memory, but I seem to recall that Han shot once, and Greedo didn't shoot at all.

My favs are Star Wars and Empire.

They are all fun, entertaining films.

While The Clone Wars is basically just an extended video game.

For all its other problems it was simply a mistake to turn these three episodes into a movie; it's built complete with stops and starts that makes it feel it'd flow more organically cut into three pieces shown on the small screen.

All that said, there probably isn't a Star Wars film I actively hate or anything.

What I thought was interesting was that several episodes into the Clone Wars series, they have an episode ("The Hidden Enemy") that actually leads into the events of the "movie". I always kind of wondered if that was originally intended to be the rightful beginning of the series?

ANH and RotJ.

ANH because it was the first SW film I saw and I really enjoy RotJ, Empire is probably the better film but the epicness of RotJ wins me over.

Re: Of the 7 Star Wars films, what 2 are your current favorite ones and

Honestly, the older I get, the more I just don't care about the Star Wars universe at all. I used to love the OT, but they just don't mean much to me anymore.

According to wikipedia this episode was made long after the pilot.

1.A New Hope2.ROTJ3.ROTS

A new Hope is my favorite because we get to see Obiwan for the first time. In 10-20 years it'll be the first time since he kicked Anikans ass for new fans. We see Luke and are introduced to our favorite characters. We get schooled on the force and the Jedi.

I like ROTJ because you get a sense that the Empire is about to crumble, I love the kick ass move R2 does with the lightsaber and I love Lukes Jedi robes and I love Lukes lightsaber. ROTJ may be on the light side with the Ewoks and such, but it seamed to me that it was ok because Lukes training was complete and he would be literaly returning the Jedi and the Senate back to power.

ROTS, of all the prequels, this is my favorite because Anikan finally turns over to the darkside. Once agian Obiwan is there kicking ass. I love General grevious, I love how the Emperor finally starts kicking ass and I love the lightsaber battle at the end.Last, but not least I loved order 66.

IMO, just like Star Trek, theres something to like about all of them.

Re: Of the 7 Star Wars films, what 2 are your current favorite ones and

Tough question, but I would have to say Empire and Jedi as they complement each other very well, IMO.

As a tangential opinion, I like the Star Wars soundtrack the best. I think that it really holds up as a piece of music separate from the movie itself better than any of the other soundtracks.

Re: Of the 7 Star Wars films, what 2 are your current favorite ones and

^ Good point about the soundtrack ... though I'd probably list Phantom Menace as my favorite all-round score, thanks to its diversity, clever use of themes and, of course "Duel of the Fates."

Re: Of the 7 Star Wars films, what 2 are your current favorite ones and

I think Empire has the best soundtrack; it builds on the themes of the original well in addition to adding its own (famously replacing the imperial theme from the first movie with the Vader-centric Imperial March. Go on, hum the original imperial theme. Can you?); but generally the soundtracks were good for the films.

Also, Across the Stars from Clones is more painfully, tragically, lushly, operatically romantic than anything in the movie itself. Anakin/Padme seem unworthy of its emotional tenderness.

Re: Of the 7 Star Wars films, what 2 are your current favorite ones and

I am not a big fan of Across the Stars just because it is a rip-off of Williams earlier work in Hook.

Re: Of the 7 Star Wars films, what 2 are your current favorite ones and

The rest of the AOTC score, though, is almost as bland as the Anakin/Padme chemistry ... which is somewhat fitting. LOL

Speaking of rip-offs, I won't say that Williams did this consciously, but "Across The Stars" is painfully similar to "Cassiopia and Starbuck" from Stu Phillips' original Battlestar Galactica score.

Stu Phillips isn't one to talk when it comes to ripoffs, no? His Battlestar Galactica score, fun as it is (and it is) is, er, 'inspired' by John Williams in the same manner the series was 'inspired' by Star Wars (the sort of inspiration that resulted in a lawsuit, I believe).

I am not a big fan of Across the Stars just because it is a rip-off of Williams earlier work in Hook.
Eh, it probably helps that I repressed all memory of everything to do with that film.
