I just imagined Odo taking his bucket break in Quark's bar so he could keep an eye on him. But then Quark would probably be tempted to dump some drink in there. Or some drunk customer would try to eat/drink him.

Sure, they try, but they are never quite as good at it as Odo.

So, is Odo resting in his bucket analogous to us sleeping (and possibly dreaming)? Or is he fully conscious (and possibly brooding, and thinking strategies) the whole time, just not taking any shape to allow his morphogenic matrix some rest?
Kinda like lounging on a beach chair completely relaxed, but still able to duck when an errant Frisbee flies by?
I assume Odo let Quark get away with some stuff in order to learn more about larger criminal enterprises and contacts.

This made me wonder, when Odo regenerates does he stay awake and conscious or does he sleep like humans, knowing nothing on what's going on around him?
