Ratings. Even if the show tanks after the first season, the network will still have made money off of her. Reality shows are cheap to produce and with how much she is/was in the media, those first few episodes will probably bring in a healthy amount of viewers. I doubt the show will last long, though.

Star Trek more than anything else. Star Trek tricked generations of the world's smartest people in to staying at home and watching TV rather than going out and meeting other people. The result ? Only dumb people get to breed and thus, Octo-Mom gets a TV show.

I doubt that this TV show will be anywhere near as bad as the way the Dionne Quintuplets were exploited back in the 1930s and 1940s. Those poor little girls were the basis an entire tourist and marketing industry.
