Obvious redressed sets

Not so much along the original lines of the thread but still in essence, DS9 just seemed really low budget to me. The storyline was top notch and I love it for that but the Valiant/Defiant thing stuck out alot, even down to the same registry number on external shots. Also the same footage was used for different battles alot. Terrok/Empok seemed pretty poorly done too, yeah they are identical stations but DS9 has been federation/bajoran for years whereas Empok was an abandoned cardassian battle station, it'd have been nice to see it beefy and scary, rather than just less well lit!

I here you..but TNG did it even worse. Sometimes they would show that shot of the ENT-D in the distance...a mirrored shot..and the numbers are backwards too..I HATE that..

Haha forgot about that, I can't even count how many times the Enterprise has flown from the left of the screen to the right of it. Often past a bright orange planet.

I think the Cardassians had different ideas of what constitutes "well lit". ;)

Actually, the Valiant did not have the same registry as the Defiant in its external shots. The Sao Paulo did, as did the two Defiant class ships seen in Voyager's Message in a Bottle, but the Valiant did not.

Why should Empok Nor have been 'beefy and scary'? It was trash, a junk heap, not used for years. It didn't need to be any more badass than an auto chop shop in Queens, because that's basically what it was.

There was one DS9 episode (can't remember which, but I think it was late in S6) where the Defiant's registration was NCC rather than NX. I wondered if they'd decided that the Defiant was now proven and therefore a ship in service rather than experimental, but next episode it was back to NX... :)

Also, if we're talking getting the maximum mileage out of redressing sets, we should be looking at Babylon 5 rather than Star Trek!

The Defiant never had an NCC registry. It's registry was NX-74205 right up to its destruction in The Changing Face of Evil. Due to heavy use of stock footage, the Sao Paulo also had the registry NX-74205 in WYLB as well.

Does anyone have a screen grab of the scene in Congo of the Comms room cause it's been years since I saw the movie and I can't imagine ever noticing the set.

This is a screencap from the trailer on the IMDb.

I would say the 1701-refit bridge got the most long-term use. After serving as the Enterprise bridge in TMP-TVH, it was then given to TNG (along with most of the other movie sets) where it became the Ent-D battle bridge. It later was re-dressed to serve as other starfleet ships (like the Stargazer, Hathaway, Enterprise-C) and even as other rooms on the Ent-D (like a couple of different science labs). I think this same bridge set even went on to serve as a few starship bridges for DS9 (like the Saratoga).
