"Obsession" and "Gamesters of Triskelion" Filmed Out of Order?

I was looking at the filming date ranges for these two episodes on the Star Trek fan Wikia Memory Alpha, and have the production code numbers 047 and 046 respectively, and I noticed these two codes seem wrong going by when they were filmed.

The database says "Obsession" (047) was filmed between October 9 to 16, 1967 and "The Gamesters of Triskelion" (046) between October 17 and 24, 1967, so I believe that the production codes were swapped by mistake? Perhaps "Obsession" should be 046 and "Gamesters" 047?

Thank you,

Interesting. I knew that Mirror, Mirror had some delayed shooting because Barbara Luna had a bad cold and her scenes were shot last. But this is odd. Maybe Memory Alpha is just wrong.

It is also true that production of season 2 did not start until after the initial talks regarding the sale of Desilu to Gulf+Western had began.

Yes, after the production numbers had been assigned, "Gamesters" and "Obsession" were filmed not in the planned order. They were reversed. The same thing happened with "Armageddon" and "Space Seed"--after the production numbers had been assigned, they actually shot "Space Seed" before "Armageddon."

I can't tell you why for either instance.

So the "produciton order" we all know and love is actually incorrect! That's strangely mind-blowing to me.

The Cush does state that Armageddon was shot after Space Seed despite the difference in production codes! I'd still view Armageddon first if watching them in production order though! :shifty:

So now there's airdate, production, AND shooting order?!
Quick, someone start a thread about Which Order Should I Watch TOS IN?

Not wrong as such; the production number reflects go-ahead for shooting, not actual production, I guess. Earlier in the season, final edits might also differ: not so much once tx was breathing down Justman's neck.

It's that number 47 thing again. ;)

What does Cash say about it? :nyah:

Did someone say Cash?

Where's @Indysolo when you need him?

Damn, we bought his books to read all his mistakes and mock him - now he thinks he has something important to say. He keeps writing books, we have no one to blame but ourselves. :scream::barf:

Well, other than swapping "...Armageddon" with "Space Seed" and "Gamesters..." with "Obsession," the numbered Production order is indeed the filming order. Not too much to have to keep straight.

He's busy right now writing a trilogy about the 3 seasons of 'Gilligan's Island'.

No,no,no,no! He's just released two books (when he said there'd only be one) on Irwin Allen's Lost in Space! I'm wondering when he's going to start on Space 1999 as well! :shifty::scream::rolleyes:

I can just visualize a future press conference.....

Reporter : "Mr. Cushman, do you have any plans to write a book about 'Dr. Who'?
Cushman : "Who???"
