O'Brien out, Leno back in?

Well, you'll have to tell me all about it. Last night I RSVP'd to the Facebook event "NOT Watching the First New Episode of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

The fact that he has Palin as one of his first guests means that I will just wait to watch it on the Daily Show.

I'm curious--what are you noticing that I'm apparently completely missing? If it's the size of Leno's name relative to Conan's, that's not uncommon as a Google image search shows all sorts of variations with the host's name large, small and everywhere in between.

Over 300 thousand is just under 24 hours. If it continues at this pace, we have a new number one... err, twatter?

In his "Tonight Show" return, Leno promoted Tuesday's lineup, which includes Sarah Palin.

In hyping Palin's appearance, he said she "has never been on a late night show."

Palin, of course, appeared on the "Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" in December alongside William Shatner, where she read Shatner's autobiography.

Nikki Finke writes that Leno's statement is evidence of "NBC/Leno erasing all trace of Conan." NBC had already gone out of its way to "erase" Conan from the web, removing every single "Tonight Show" that he hosted from Hulu and NBC websites.

Sweet Jesus... tried watching Jay's comeback episode. Just Jay himself is suicide inducing... but when you get both him and Jamie Foxx on the screen at the same time, that's when you want to go in and shoot everybody at work tomorrow. What a couple of useless sacks of shit.

This is going to sound trivial but the set design for Jay Leno's new show was abhorrent. It literally looked like Jay old's set (for his primetime show) but merely redressed. It looked really tacky. I know they only had a month to construct a new set for Jay but seriously, that was the best they could do?

I know Conan's set had the luxury of having eight months (I think...) to be built but it is such a tragedy on a purely aesthetic level to see Conan's glorious set gone and replaced with this piece of crap. It doesn't help that seeing Leno on stage isn't that gratifying, either.

As for his actual show, it was usual Jay, but with a little more perkiness and smugness. I mean, I couldn't help but cringe as he gloated about returning to The Tonight Show. He honestly came off like a douche. I know, I'm biased because I'm a Conan fan, but in the past I grew to appreciate Leno's amiable nature. I think this whole late night debacle has ruined any leftover good taste I had for Leno. Every time I watch The Tonight Show now, I'm gonna think of Conan and what happened. It'll probably go away, especially when Conan gets his own show, but the whole thing has still left a bad taste in my mouth.

Stop watching the Tonight Show. It will make you feel better.

Extravagant sets are over-rated. Just look at Craig Ferguson's set. It wasn't even designed to have an audience, but he manages to entertain night-after-night.

There will be a curiosity factor for the first few shows, but I doubt it lasts longer than a week. Then he'll be in the same boat Conan was in.

I'm betting it only lasts for the first show.

I've been tempted to leave my cable box on and tuned to CBS if I don't stay up to watch Letterman so he gets another +1 on his ratings even if I'm not actually watching.

Ratings do not work that way.
