O'Brien out, Leno back in?

I waited many years for Connan to take over the tonight show and now they are talking about putting Leno in,that's a big WTF? Connan waited his turn and Leno brought the Tonight Show down to the low ratings it has now. Connan's show was enjoying favorable ratings pretty much the whole entire time it was on. He was given the Tonight Show because of that. He is funny, the audiance is starting to get his apeal, he's hasen't even been on for a year. For Christ's sakes, give the man a chance! Leno is simply not funny,he never was. Connan has Andy Richter back and is basically back to his roots, so it takes time, but he will be on top soon. I mean Jimmy Fallon is retarted and all the other late nigh talk shows suck even worse than Leno did. Dave Letterman is a funny person with good jokes, but Paul Shaffer is anoying.NBC is stupid for doing this. They will be sorry.

I do wonder if NBC can afford to axe O'Brian they will still have to payout his contract to an extent. NBC should cut back and get rid of all 10pm shows because they are in a dire way at the moment. I do wonder would Leno be interested in a 2 hour sunday 8-10 show ? when NFL is not on so March till August ? with a little summer breask in the middle maybe.

Just browsing the wikipedia information it sounds like Jimmy is actually doing well in his timeslot (really?!) while Conan is down and Leno is obviously horrible.

Jimmy is actually doing well in his timeslot (really?!)

This begs the question.. aside from Craig Ferguson, what exactly is his competition at 12:30am? Reruns of Frasier,
Sportscenter, and infomercials?

I'm reading (so could be totally untrue...) that Conan found out when we did, via websites like TMZ? If true, NBC is such shit.

If NBC does do any juggling to put Leno back in the 11:35 timeslot, you have to think Conan would be PISSED (justifiably so) and leave as soon as his contract expires. That would put NBC in dire straits to have a replacement for Leno when he inevitably leaves/retires from his show. Who's going to replace him? Fallon? :guffaw:

But then again, it's NBC so this chain of events happening wouldn't surprise me one bit.

1. Leno sucks
2. Affliates complain
3. Fire Conan
4. Replace Conan with Leno
5. ???
6. PROFIT!

I think it was an experiment that just didn't work and ended up with more disadvantages than advantages to the network. I really can't fault NBC for trying to do something different (okay, maybe I can), but it was just too different and people weren't buying it. I like Leno tons over O'Brien myself, but I don't think I watched him even once at 10:00 pm EST.

Put Leno back at 11:35 pm EST, have O'Brien come in at 12:05 am EST. When Leno retires for good, his show goes with him and O'Brien comes back at 11:35 pm.

Was there ANY night, or nights, that Leno did decent (or at leastbetter than others). Even it would be weird for the US, Korea airs shows twice a week.

Maybe that might help?

Shows like Leno, Conan, etc. are basically vehicles to help promote their guests' latets project. So it works, because there's plenty of people tyring to promote, and the costs of making such a show is relatively small.

Personally, i liked having Leno earlier, so i can get to bed earlier, and have sleep when i wake up by 5am. (CST)

Hmm..now would be a good time to have Arsenio Hall back (or at least a show with such energy).

Or better yet, a revamped Politically Incorrect...but with some funnier monologues (if those are even needed...). Something that's fun yet has substance. (Yes, i know there's the Daily show)

Can someone post a poll to ask what they would choose to put up at the current Jay Leno hour?

It has been stretched out a long time, but giving The Tonight Show to Leno in '93 instead of Letterman is still proving to have been one of the stupidest moves in TV history. If NBC had given Letterman Johnny's chair and moved Leno to the Late Night slot they would still dominate late night like they had for the previous three decades.

Connan's numbers aren't that great from what I can tell, they are stable now and maybe at the same level as Leno's before the switch.

Connan should stay on at 11:35, then Leno, and then Jimmy, problem solved.

Conan should leave the network and my guess is that he will. What a kick in the ass by NBC. I can't wait 'til Monday night's Letterman; I know he'll be making comments on it.

Conan might be under contract and therefor can't leave the network even if his show is canceled. Kind of like what the Stargate people did with Amanda Tapping and Atlantis. However Leno is still pissed about being fired so wouldn't it be something if Conan and Leno went to Fox?

Leno's 10pm show is so awful, but in general he was never htat funny to begin with. There's a certain 'pattern' and 'comfort level' with late night TV.

It's almost like, it's endearing to be kind of lame that late at night, when you're getting ready for bed. Late Night TV is meant to be forgettable McDonalds comedy. It's perfectly fine to be "hit or miss". That doesn't fly in prime time.

edit: Just saw this link:

Apparently NBC is willing to let Conan walk if we wants to.

There are many reasons Conan should be pissed, and this is at the top of the list.

Bad enough he gets the Tonight Show only to have Leno moved in the earlier slot to overshadow him and probably siphon off some of the potential audience, but this is really low class stuff on NBCs part.

If I was running Fox, I'd be knocking on Conan's door right about now. Grabbing Conan from NBC might be the best chance Fox has ever had to establish its own late-night foothold.

That's one of the reasons NBC wanted to keep Leno and gave him the 10pm show, because they knew he would go to ABC or Fox. Would be funny if that is exactly what happens with Conan. I'd be more pissed off because he had to move 3,000 miles only to get fired?!

NBC should have just left everythnig the way it was to begin with.

NBC must be smoking some really, really bad weed or something.

They're tanking everywhere, they're in fourth place, and they screwed themselves with this shitty 10 pm every day of the week Leno show, and now, rather than admit they screwed the pooch and kick Leno's ass to the curb, they're going to risk alienating a shit load of people audience wise, and pissing off both Conan and Jimmy Fallon by pushing their shows back.

If I where Conan, I'd sue for breech of contract.

If there was any show I watched on NBC, I'd be boycotting it right now.

Fuck Leno. Big Chinned Chump Idiot.

Poor Conan.

Stupid NBC.

I didn't think any network could be stupider than FOX...

If they're insistant on keeping Leno, here is an idea for them: put Leon at 8 or 8:30, paired with a different sitcom every night. Thus restoring the 10 PM block to drama.

If Leno lets NBC fuck over Conan like this... most people will realize he's a jerk.

It's a repeat of the 1990s. NBC fucking over someone for Leno. Conan is now in Letterman's shoes.
