Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I personally think Rebels did the only interesting thing worth doing between Maul and Kenobi. It's one of the most beautiful scenes that show ever put together (which is saying something, Rebels was fantastic). And it is a flawless ending to the rivalry begun in TPM, which explores both characters' growth or lack thereof in the interim and then dispenses long overdue justice for Qui-Gon Jinn. It is also an absolute crowning moment of badass for Obi-Wan Kenobi, and quite possibly his strongest moment in any Star Wars medium since he lowered his guard against Vader way back in ANH.
As great as the scene is*, I'd also be perfectly fine with them overwriting it with their own take.
I know all the Disney stuff is considered equal "canon", but live action should trump animation. Surely no one predicted they'd actually do a legit live-action Obi Wan series when Rebels was being written.
*Heck, part of me still slightly prefers the non-canonical comic where Maul is blasted by Owen while he and Obi Wan are dueling.
