Obi Wan series on the way?

So it sounds like this is the new course direction Disney is planning for Star Wars. There are rumors of a third Star Wars series to be announced in the not too distant future and it's gonna be a 6 part Obi Wan mini series.
So instead of a film we get a high quality mini series on Disney plus.

Sounds good to me. Although I would love to see a movie on the big screen a 6 part series would probably be a well fleshed out story and not a big budget movie that sacrifices story for action pieces.

Whether true or not (I honestly doubt it) a short series format may work better for the kind of storytelling a Kenobi project would need than a two hour, three act theatrical production. Also, if they keep him grounded with no offworld excursions (as they should) then it'd also make sure the budget stays a lot more manageable.

Indeed, I could easily see a rough adaptation of JJM's 'Kenobi' novel taking up am 8 episode season quite nicely.

I am really curious to see how Ewan's Obi-Wan would fare outside of the yoke of George Lucas. He's a better actor than the material he was given to work with.

Ewan's a good actor, and Obi-wan was a good character. So it seems reasonable to at least make an attempt at a film that has a known audience.

I did enjoy Solo quite a bit, but if it were me making the decisions we would have gotten the Kenobi movie everybody wants instead of the Solo movie nobody really wanted.
A Disney+ series could be cool too, and might actually work better since a Kenobi on Tattooine story wouldn't really be able to go as big as movies tend to be these days.

We are about ten years away from the potential ANH remake using Ewan as Obi-wan "Ben" Kenobi.

I just want Ewan McGregor back as Obi Wan. A mini series would probably be even better then a movie, but I just want to see him in the role again, regardless of the format.

I imagine ever since Ewan took the role he has wanted to make more of it. Under the right Director he might finally get the chance to let his Obi Wan shine.

That's basicly true for 50% of the prequel cast.

Exceptions including Ian McDiarmid and Frank Oz, who pretty much did perfectly fine with the Lucas material, but can also work just as good without it.

No, no, let's avoid the prequel stuff. Let's get fantastical here. ;-)

So, we take Alec Guinness, and de-age, or age him as needed. If de-aged, use footage of film and TV he was in to get his look for the time needed.

Do, there is no try.

I'm still waiting for the Marvel movie with a flashback to the '50s or '60s where they use all the virtual makeup techniques at their disposal so we can get Howard Stark being simultaneously played by Dominic Cooper and John Slattery as he ages from one actor to the other.

Kind of like one of those what would their kid look like gags, where they combine the faces of two different people to make a new one?

The Rebels show has hindered my excitement for this idea somewhat. They had something I thought would be a good idea to explore but that show ruined it.
I’m sure it’ll still be entertaining somewhat.
