Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

So I had a shower thought today:

I wonder if the long-term plan is to set Reva up to as Ahsoka's shadow-self. Obviously, they haven't said anything about Ingram being in the show, but why would they? Plus, I wouldn't expect something that theme-heavy to appear until a would-be second season.

I know Offee is a more likely candidate for something like that, but they seem to be building Reva up as Vader's apprentice -- Ahsoka's dark counterpart, if you will.

There's a huge time gap between the timelines of those shows. Besides, Filoni would never let someone else's character appear in one of his shows (aside from Lucas, of course.)

Inconsistent how? It was seeing Vader in a different context. So there was nothing at all to be "inconsistent" with.

You can defend that ridiculous scene until doomsday, but it will not change it from what it was: last minute fanservice for a certain part of the SW audience that needs to see lightsaber action even when its inconsistent to the established character behavior from the OT.

One other thing I forgot to mention- I like that Obi-wan uses aiki in hand to hand combat. That is a very Jedi choice when it comes to martial arts. A Jedi's foresight and a little help from the Force would make those techniques doubly effective.

As opposed to the pre-Disney Princess "smart-aleckiness" of Carrie Fischer's version? "Tarkin, I should have detected your stench when I was brought on board." This isn't Disney anything, it's Leia being Leia. She doesn't care who you are, she is not impressed.

It's one thing to be like that in your twenties, quite another when you are a very precocious ten.

What is this?

Aikido.

This is what the technique that Obi-wan used on the first two sewer guards looks like in a dojo environment:

Oh. It just said aiki? Was confused.
Aikido is amazing.

Not necessarily. Depending on how long the show goes, I fully expect to see Ahsoka's time in Fulcrum (if not in direct setting, then certainly through flashbacks). And, per canon, she starts working for Bail within a year of this show. In fact, there's a good chance that Leia's kidnapping is what triggers Bail to seek her out in the first place. Hell, I give even odds of her showing up in the show at some point.

Aiki. Short for aikido, or aikijujitsu. The two are essentially the same thing- aikijitsu is the original form of the art, much harder with a lot more strikes. The latter is the softer, more stylized modern version (Aikikai) that Ueshiba Morihei developed after WWII. There are a couple other schools of Aikido deriving from aikikai- the one I trained in years ago was Yoshinkan, which is more the style as Ueshiba taught it before WWII. It's a little harder, and was taught by one of Ueshiba's former live in students (uchi-deshi), Gozo Shioda. It's also the style taught to the Tokyo Metro Police.

She definitely won't show up in Obi Wan, there's literally zero room for her, no point to her being there and only Favreau and Filoni seem to care about including endless pointless cameos in their shows.

And the Ahsoka series is going to be concurrent with The Mandalorian, in the Endor +5 timeline. So we won't be seeing her during her Rebels era or sooner. (though there will be some flashbacks, as Hayden has been confirmed to appear.)

And that's more than 15 years after the Obi Wan show.

This was intense.

I’m not thrilled with the general idea of a Vader/Kenobi fight even if I knew it was inevitable. Still, Vader was actually genuinely frightening here.

Unlike in Rogue One.

I think this is the first live action Star Wars series I’ve been this engaged in.

Oh and Zack Braff. Love it!

That's fascinating. I miss doing martial arts.

More interesting than Star Wars. So much history, depth, tradition and it was an amazing experience to train, and observe masters.

I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner. Now, *I* am the master.

Obi-Wan kinda needs to power-up and have the last fight with Darth to end a lot better than being dragged through fire.

Does anyone really think that this won't happen? Seriously?

Obi-Wan goes from this...

One of the best lightsaber duels in the franchise.

He's going to get better.

You know how you defend it? It's what the (bulk of the) audience wants to see. Movies/TV has to have action. When YOU produce SW television, you can leave "fan service" out. And you'll be leaving your audience tuning in to a show that has action.

BTW, all these SW (and ST) shows are basically "fan service"
