News Obi-Wan Kenobi series premiering on May 27

Here's a screen cap of Obi-Wan using the binocs in the Episode 2 deleted scene, can't find anything from Episode 3

Yeah, that's the one I came across (plus one or two others when they're down) all seemingly scanned from a publication. The old site I found them on say one is from an old issue of SW Insider, the others from the AotC 'Scrapbook'. The latter may or may not be the case since I have access to a copy of the scrapbook and after a flickthrough, I can't see it. The only other place I can find an image is the RotS Visual Dicitonary, though it's only one image, taken direction at the lenses.
When I built the model, most of the proportional reference I used was from a couple of different toy incarnations; one cheap plastic think that comes as part of a "Jedi Kit" for kids at the Disney parks, and a small scale version for one of the Sideshow figures. It all seems consistent enough since the licencing people were probably given decent reference. I'm just lacking in terms detail reference, especially the blue light thing, and almost nothing about the underside (I just ended up mirroring the buttons down so it didn't look bare down there.)

It's a very simple prop. I wouldn't be surprised if the shell is just a cast taken from block of wood someone cut on the bandsaw. The rest looks like found object greebles. They don't even try to disguise the hex screws!

You know, another thought, the shape of Vader's helmet was noticeably different in Rebels from what it was in other canon, hearkening back to its shape in McQuarrie's pre-production art. That doesn't mean that Vader or anybody else in-universe redesigned his helmet for that period (* heads exploding all across the Internet *). Maybe they feel OK treating the character visuals in Rebels and more broadly in all of the animated shows as simply stylized.
This isn't really a question of stylistic interpretation though, as the Pau'an make-up design originates in live action, and the Rebels interpretation of Vader was deliberately skewing towards early concept art. In the venn diagram of what Tion Medon looked like and how the Grand Inquisitor design stylistically interpreted that look for Rebels, this execution back into live action feels like it only barely lands in the intersection. Combine that with the different voice and physique and it's hard not to find it jarring.
Yeah, I think I'm actually more bothered by how different he looks from the live action Pau'ans in Revenge of the Sith than how different he looks from the Rebels version.

I had a similar reaction. I'll try digging out the old DVD and see if that turns up anything (never bothered to get the old movies on blu ray, so no clue if there's anything new there.) Probably buried in some random featurette.
Pretty sure I am having a false memory. When Attack first came out I was a pretty regular participant on theforce.net and they had a variety of pictures shared from BTS:

Between that, reading comics, novels and the like, I just conflated it all together.

This series could a great op to bring back Mace Windu; I'm on the side of the fence he's still alive.

Sigh. Why can't people ever accept the death of a fictional character? Why does everyone need to be resurrected?

Why does every SW fan say, "I hope we can see XXXX existing character in this new show!" instead of, "Wow, I can't wait to see all the NEW characters/locations/storylines!"

We may never solve the mystery of why people want to see existing characters show up in the new show called Star Wars: Existing Character Name.

Welcome to nostalgia 101. In the fictional world people are not allowed to move on, or grow or change. How else will we know it's Star Wars ;)

If Kenobi doesn't show up then I will be annoyed.

But, more on point is the fact that Mace has zero reason to appear. He's dead. Until he isn't. Maybe him and Liam Neeson will do a voice over.

Of course, there's zero distinction between the very-much-alive titular character appearing in his own show than there is in unnecessarily bringing back a dead character to cameo in that same series! You nailed it!

The point I was intending to make is that a series about an existing character is being aimed directly at people who want to see existing characters.

I think it depends largely on the character. Maual was ridiculous but used very well and had an excellent death. Windu's return would be predicated upon how it was used. And, honestly, Windu has the option to appear as a Force whisper.

Here's the thing, for me. This series is about expanding upon what we don't know about Kenobi's life from ROTS to ANH. That's a long time and focusing on returning characters is, well, a wasted opportunity to expand the universe rather than make it smaller.

Because people like these characters and want to see more of them.

I think people just tend to have a stronger emotional connection to the characters they already know, and so they are going to be more eager to see them, than the characters they've never seen before.

I'd be fine with Mace returning as a Force Ghost but it makes much more sense for it to be Qui-Gon. And just Qui-Gon.

I've seen in the movies force lightning doesn't kill Jedi, and I'd seen in TPM Jedi can fall from great heights and slicing an arm doesn't kill them as well, but Mace was killed???

Yup. Very much killed.
We have seen exactly two people killed by force lightning; Mace and Vader. The reason it didn't kill Yoda and Luke respectively is because 1) Yoda is Yoda, and 2) Palply was taking his sweet time, after all, his overconfidence was his weakness. Plus he literally says "and now young Skywalker, you will die" right before his starts in for the last time. Had Vader not interrupted him with a trip down the shaft then he probably would have. Indeed, he only caught the edge of the blast meant for Luke and it still fried him.

Also: name one Jedi that managed to slow their fall while unconscious and/or dead. Go on. I'll wait . . .

You didn't see Windu unconscious while falling, lol. It's not conclusive Mace Windu was killed, my points are fair, and I even believe the actor himself Samuel L. Jackson sees it that way as well. Its open the character could return.

Mace has about the same chances that Maul had. They never showed us the body. Which means he could be alive or dead. It depends how they want to handle it.

Inquisitors are the most pointless characters in Star Wars. They’re whole job is to kill Jedi (which was supposed to be Vader’s job) but because they are poorly trained, they can only kill Padawans. Anything higher and they get killed instantly. This one in Kenobi better wish she doesn’t meet him, or she will be in two pieces a few seconds later.
