News Obi-Wan Kenobi series premiering on May 27

Holographic training droid? Won't be the first time Vader has fought a droid that had the appearance of Obi-wan Kenobi.

It's probably worth remembering that the way LF operates, concept art doesn't necessarily reflect anything that'll end up on the show. At least in the initial phases it's mostly done to explore ideas visually before the scripts are locked in.

Well thy confirmed in various press junkets that they will fight.

That doesn’t mean they will actually fight for real though. It could be a dream or a vision or something.

Although, a second physical fight would line up more with the, "You should not have come back", dialogue in "A New Hope", rather than it coming from a Vader who was in a position of weakness last time they saw each other.

They just need to put in some dialogue that ties into the Death Star conversation. Maybe something about completing the circle. Then what Vader talks about "the circle is now complete" it all ties together. I will say that Obi-Wan needs to have some difficulty protecting Luke. If he sits out in the Dune Sea for 18 years and never actually has to do anything to keep Luke from being found then that's a waste of his sacrifice, and his time would have been better spent helping the rebellion directly the whole time.

I've been trying to remember, but I don't think there's anything in the dialogue of the Death Star fight that absolutely rules out Vader and Obi-Wan running into each other between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The only thing that could maybe be is the line about Vader being the learning last time they met, and now being the master, but even that could probably be worked around.

There’s not. It’s just another instance of small universe syndrome.

Please don’t mistake me: I’m actually thrilled that Hayden is returning. I just hope that the fight sequence is a dream and nothing more. I hope we get to see him as Anakin and Vader throughout the story. It’s just the idea of the two of them actually fighting again isn’t that appealing to me.

Vader seemed really hot to find evidence of Kenobi in Rebels. Though Palpatine seemed to try to belay his expectations, and Tarkin figured he must be dead by the time the Falcon arrived on the Death Star.

I wouldn't be opposed to them having another fight, but the setup and aftermath will need to be expertly done.

But what could be an awesome bone thrown in would be if they pull a remake of the Death Star duel in there.

Who says Vader was talking about learning from Obi Wan?

Maybe he ment he was still learning the full power of the Dark Side, but is now the master of it? I know, it's reaching. I'm just trying to say things can be interpreted many ways.
'A certain point of view...'

That actually could be a nice way to get around that line.
I'm not dying to see Vader & Obi-Wan fight again, but I wouldn't have a problem with it if they did.

I'd love to see a real fight between Vader and Kenobi. We've seen Anakin vs Obi-Wan, but a full blown Vader vs Kenobi fight (that is actually a fight, and not Obi-Wan distracting him and then giving up) would be great. A lot of SW fans really hate good lightsaber battles for some reason, only wanting boring stuff where the actors barely move and complaining about the great fights from, say, the prequels (the one area where all three prequels succeeded was having good lightsaber fights). I want a full Vader fight scene, at the peak of his power. Take the kind of stuff we saw in his amazing (but brief) Rogue One combat section, but do it in a big knockdown fight with Obi-Wan. None of this "Darth Maul gets killed by a single swipe" bullshit either, I want to see Vader as an unmovable dark side monster vs Obi-Wan in an intense lightsaber battle.

Vader has been so knocked down from being a legitimate threat over the years, mostly by Lucas revealing that he was a whiny brat before being put in the suit, that I'd love to feel what I felt in Rogue One again, that Darth Vader is a legitimate monster and there was a reason most people were deathly afraid of him.
