News Obi-Wan Kenobi series premiering on May 27

I compared it generally to Discovery, cramming into the cracks of a franchise past versus moving forward.

Could they do a great Kenobi show? Sure, I'll absolutely give it a try. I'm usually pretty honest about posting what I think, even if my earlier thoughts end up being wrong. I loved Solo. I hated Rogue One. At the same time, yet another franchise is taking the easy way out to garner eyeballs. Hanging everything on nostalgia instead of pressing forward.

I understand it is all about making money, I'd probably make the same business decision. But, as a fan? I find it frustrating they constantly rely on the past versus doing something new in the setting. What's next? A riff on Saved by the Bell, with Princess Leia and her friends in high school?

Based on what we have seen from Disney wars so far I have zero faith in them moving forward

Ewan plays Ben really well and I'm mildly looking forward to this, although I can so easily see Disney ruining it

Best thing they can do is play it safe here.

Glad to hear it's just about ready to go and they plan to start filming early next year.

This is going to be good!

Limited series segwaying into a movie would pretty much be my ultimate star wars wet dream :adore:

What would be weird would be if Ewan does so well that they decide to do, basically a remake of Star Wars, but from Obi-wan's point of view. They'd have to recast Luke at the very least, but could get away with the CG Leia since she only interacts with Obi-wan via the recorded message. They could also bring in the Solo cast.

Why would Maul appear? We've already seen how that relationship pans out and it left zero room for further stories between the two of them.

Because it would be awesome. Do we need another reason?
Just ignore that Rebels nonsense.

It would be very smart marketing to release the first episode or two as a limited short theatrical release. For only a week or specific dates. Like how Fathom Events does. So there is no presumption of going for big box office returns. Which ends with a trailer for the rest of the season. You want to see more you have to subscribe.
