No problem at all with the higher and higher taxes on smoking. Raising the price IS decreasing the number of smokers, which will be (eventually) a big plus for the health care system, as it should greatly reduce the lung cancer rates. And if you STILL want to smoke, it's still available, you just have to pay more towards your eventual health care needs. No real reasonable argument about why non-smokers should have to shoulder a burden for a fairly disgusting and destructive habit.
It's just a more-successful version of the Smoking Cessation programs they dump so much money into. And has another added benefit: all the smokers who quit now find themselves with thousands of extra dollars they didn't realize they were spending every year, so can go stimulate the economy

Hey, if people are stupid enough to smoke they have no one to blame but themselves for what happens.
Smoke? I was talking about prostitution. But on smoking: Not entirely true. They may start before they are fully able to see the consequences or for a variety of reasons that are not blameworthy.

He already broke that promise with the cigarette tax. And the Cap and Trade tax will be the largest tax in history if it goes through. This guy has been a disaster.
Show me where Obama promised not to raise a single tax that would affect people that make less than 250K. Go on, show me.
His promise was referring to INCOME taxes. Do your research next time.
And BTW, I wasn't aware that smoking was limited to people who made less than 250K a year, nor was I aware that everyone who made less than 250K a year was a smoker. Fail.

You're correct, smoking is not limited to those making less than 250K/year, but they do make up the largest percentage from what I understand.
As for Obama's economic plan being good for America -

You might want to look up the difference between statutory and effective tax rates.
The video which specifically mentions income, payroll, and capital gains taxes directed at individual and family earnings as opposed to consumption taxes on goods and services? That video?
