Please, try to resist the temptation of partisanship in this thread! I just thought it was a cool picture.

Well, I agree with Obama being compared to Spock in the way that he's cool and level headed, and I think we all know hes smart. I guess it would be going out on a limb to compare him to Picard - maybe one day. Comparing Mccain to Kirk is worth a laugh, I can imagine him in Iraq with his shirt torn off punching a terrorist.

What I'm curious about is who does that make Palin?

It's not only a kool picture, it is also a very good article. I think the author makes a valid point. Obama has had a calming effect at a turbulent time in our nation- and now the world.
Unfortunately, McCain does have the opposite effect. He tends to appear jumpy and excitable- living in the moment, which do not present him as a forward thinker.
The character study is well done. :vulcan:

Palin as a Trek character? I don't know. Was there an evil, brainless bimbo on Trek? Maybe one of the Klingon sisters? They always seemed like that. :klingon:

I saw Obama a few months ago and he definitely has a very high level of Charisma. Does really play it off that cool headed though? I agree he doesn't get angry that I've ever seen but he's often laughing and joking around. Most of the times this is all Mccain does as well. I am aware he gets very angry because I've heard so many testimonies to that effect but if its as out of control as everyone plays it up to be then he's done a good job of hiding it the entire campaign.

Create your own Obama logo. I found this on a Google search:

This may be fun for the Obama supporters on the board. I made mine there.

EDIT: This post promoted me to Fleet Captain! Yay me!

Interesting article.. now I feel bad for actually thinking that he should have been more aggressive and *gasp* emotional towards attacking McCain and Palin back in early September.

I Googled to see if anyone else has made a point of his apparent level-headed attitude and I found this in the images category. :vulcan:

You know what, though? I saw something else in this: bipartisanship on a level that will never happen in the real world. I think that there are those in both parties with skills that if REALLY brought to bear together, could strengthen this country tremendously. The thing about Kirk/Spock was that they complemented each other so perfectly.

Would that fit be so perfect with these PARTICULAR individuals? Probably not. But I can dream of such a combination...too bad it would never happen.

Nah. I'd pick Major Kira. A conservative, strong woman who's coming from experience on just one world's militia to facing the entire galaxy, with all attendant strengths and weaknesses.

Thou shall not use spam to rise through the ranks you heathen . :)
Consider it my Kobyashi Maru. :vulcan:
Put a picture of McCain over the crippled Captain Pike and we have a winner. :techman:
Look for it in the next TOS caption contest...
I've heard Obama's a Trekkie, so he'd probably love being compared to Spock. :rommie:
Someone on this board mentioned that very thing recently. The poster met him. Obama even knew the Vulcan salute. :vulcan: I've only met two presidents so far, Reagan and Clinton.

hmm, not sure but Hillary can be Janice Lester. ;)

I like the article.

Hmm...McCain as Kirk. I could definitely see that....

But...Obama as Spock?

Must be the ears....:vulcan:

( Ah, forgive me. I coudn't resist....)

Seriously, Barack's pretty emotional. And let's face it... he's got ONE AWESOME GRIN!!!:D

He's certainly no stoic.

And...as we all know, Barack is articulate. Is Spock? Hmm....

"Random chance seems to have operated in our favor"
"In Plain, Non-Vulcan English, Mr. Spock... we've been lucky."
"I...believe I just said that."

"Now there you have a museam piece, Doctor, manually activated, with--"
"Spare me the anayisis, Spock, please? It's enough that it works."

"Two possibilities. First...a space buoy of some kind."
"And the second?"
(long hesitation) "...Fly-paper."

Articulate? Not...quite....

Obama as Spock? Nah.

Dukat-a lying piece of filth that will do anything for power? Yeah, more like it.
