Nu Trek and cloaking devices?

Forget the cloak I say. Leave it in the same bin with Sybok. We get more fun out of McCoy saying, "Oh good, he's seventeen". We wouldn't have had that with a cloak.

^ Sure he would. Chekov could have come up with the same theory, for the same reason, if you start with the assumption that Enterprise can't cloak while at warp.

A cloaked Enterprise would be interesting in the new universe, but I don't think we'll ever see it. Someone touched upon it above me, but Kirk & Crew are the heroes. That kind of means that to the layman, seeing their hero use a deceptive weapon like a cloaking shield may not go over well.

Then again...they pulled it off in Harry Potter. :shifty:

Let's be honest, the whole point of that scene was to justify the SFX shot of the Enterprise rising fron the gas cloud.

There won't be cloaks because no other Enterprise used cloaks and it'd just confuse people.

The original Enterprise used one in the Enterprise Incident

The Enterprise-D used one in Pegasus

and the mirror Enterprise NX-01 used one in In A Mirror Darkly Part 1
