I didn't like the first one very much to begin with, and I didn't see why they needed to make a sequel. In concept, the first one sounds brilliant, but the execution left a lot to be desired. The movie sold itself as a movie without any trickery, if you believe the hype during the promotion of it, but the setup at the end undermined it.

Yeah, I was pissed because the first movie fell apart at the end. Somehow it was worse than if the movie was bad from start to end because I became invested in the story.

I totally forgot they made a sequel.

I'd have liked it a lot more if they didn't use idiotic CGI for the magic shows. I mean... just... ugh.

Apparently according to promotional interviews, they didn't. They had mostly used sleight of hand. But the end was so clearly CGI. It fell apart because of that.

But apart from that, the story was ridiculous. It couldn't pull off trying to be the clever movie it thought it was, so that by the end of it, I was rolling my eyes. In terms of heist movies, American Hustle was so much better than this. No contest, really,

I guess what pissed me off the most about this movie was that by the end, it fell into the trap of being like pretty much anything else with lots of handwaving. Didn't help that the characters weren't very believable for what they were supposed to be doing.

Yep, and I agree, which is why I said, "if you believe the hype". Personally, that's just one of the many flaws with the movie, because it relies so much on its execution, and it failed to deliver, and collapsed like a house of cards.
