Pruned: Stargate: Universe... will watch this during the hiatus. Underwhelming opening, Glee - the novelty has worn off. Undercovers - mediocre ratings which have dropped off by 20%. It won't be around long. I like it but don't want to get attached. And, Law & Order: LA. I found it boring.

Well so far Downton Abbey and Harry and Paul are gone. Downton was OK for the first episode but not good enough to keep my interest in the longer term.

This is England was great but unfortunately finished now. Inbetweeners is still fantastic, wish this wasn't the final series. Him and Her is turning out to be a pretty decent comedy, but that's almost over now too.

New list, reflecting some drops.

Drop List

  • Lone Star - by default, since it was canceled, though would've dropped regardless
  • The Event - two episodes in, I feel nothing for a single character
  • Undercovers - despise the assistant agent; the married banter is not witty, fun, or amusing, but rather just annoying
  • On the plus side, these drops open up some time for me to get caught up on Psych now that it's on Netflix Instant streaming.
  • Stargate Universe will be dropped halfway through current season if there isn't a marked improvement in its quality.

Monday

  • Weeds, SHO
  • Men of a Certain Age, TNT (returns Dec 6)
  • Californication, SHO (returns Jan 10)

Tuesday

  • Sons of Anarchy, FX
  • No Ordinary Family, ABC
  • Caprica, SyFy (returns Oct 5)
  • Stargate Universe, SyFy
Wednesday

  • Terriers, FX
  • Lie to Me, FOX (returns Oct 4)
Thursday

  • Fringe, FOX
  • The Office, NBC
Friday

  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars, TOON
Sunday

  • Mad Men, AMC
  • Rubicon, AMC
  • Boardwalk Empire, HBO
  • The Walking Dead, AMC (premieres Oct 25)

Pruned:
Stargate: Universe - oy, painful! :wtf:

On the bubble:
LOLA - that's my first L&O, and I can't say I feel I've missed much for the past 20 years if that's at all typical of the franchise. Will watch next week.

On the upswing:
The S3 Clone Wars episodes I've been squirrelling away. So far, S1 DVDs are convincing me that I've been too hasty in dismissing this series as kiddie krap.

Very glad to see this, considering the number of times I recommended it to you in your various SW threads! I have yet to watch any of S3 yet myself, because I'm still working my way through S2 slowly.

It's not by a long shot. It was ok but it's a low valley and not a high peak in terms of the L&O franchise.

I don't really follow any schedules since I either watch everything on Hulu or Comcast On Demand once available, but for the purposes of following a schedule, here goes:

SUNDAY:
The Simpsons (FOX)
The Cleveland Show (FOX)
Family Guy (FOX)
American Dad (FOX)
Mad Men (AMC)

MONDAY:
Hawaii 5-O (CBS)

TUESDAY:
NCIS (CBS)
NCIS Los Angeles (CBS)
Stargate Universe (Syfy)
Caprica (Syfy)
Parenthood (NBC)

WEDNESDAY:
The Middle (ABC)
Modern Family (ABC)

THURSDAY:
Community (NBC)
The Office (NBC)
$!@# My Dad Says (CBS)

FRIDAY:
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TOON)

Yeah, I would give it another shot. Check out some of the other L&O. There's tons on Netflix Instant.

Sunday - Simpsons
Monday - House, Chase
Tuesday - No Ordinary Family
Wednesday - Undercovers, Criminal Minds, LOLA
Thursday - Bones, Big Bang Theory
Friday - Brave & Bold, The Good Guys

Plus there are still a few late premieres I'm waiting for.

I'm sticking with Boardwalk Empire for the time being even though I'm fairly hot and cold on it. The period costumes are great and there's some damned fine looking women in the cast. The plot is a little hard to follow at times however.

I laughed out loud at Nuckey's "What's a motherfucker?" line in last week's episode.

I'm dumping LOLA - as I suspected, the procedural format is not for me - but SoA is looking better now, maybe it's not out of steam after all. :bolian:

Monday: House, How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl
Tuesday: Life Unexpected
Wednesday: The Defenders
Thursday: The Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock

Now that the new fall season of TV has begun, what is your current viewing lineup and which shows are you most excited about?

Sunday
-The Amazing Race - (begins on the 26th, very excited)

Monday
-Chuck
-House
-Castle

Tuesday
-Stargate Universe - (begins on the 28th)
-Caprica

Wednesday
-Ghost Hunters

Thursday
-The Apprentice
-American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior

Friday
-Smallville

The only day I don't have a new show to watch is Saturday! Monday is pretty full with 4 shows, thankfully the times all work out that I am able to DVR each one.

I'm interested most in the new season of Chuck, SGU, The Amazing Race and Smallville, but I enjoy all of them.

I'm dropping The Event from my list, just not interested. Maybe one day I'll pick up the series after it is complete, so I don't have to wait around for things to happen.

/edit, oh Yeah, adding Caprica to my list as well, a t least until it gets canceled, heh.

I added Caprica to my list, but I might drop it mainly because if I see another episode, I may want to slit my wrist. Not one character is likable.

Don't worry. Odds are this is the last season so you only have seven more episodes to trudge though with the satisfaction you've seen the whole series.

Lately...

Sunday
Dexter
Boardwalk Empire

Tuesday
Caprica
Stargate Universe*

Thursday
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
The League

*Have yet to begin the new season, may eventually drop from list.

The thing is, you always hear the cliche about "If you don't like it, than don't watch it," and my response to that is there are parts of Caprica I do like. It is interesting seeing the seeds of humanity's downfall, and the various plot points have been somewhat interesting so far. It's just that this series is so dark and I get the sense the writers just want the series to be so incessantly dark and dreary. The worst thing is I guess that's what people are calling cerebral writing these days, and people had problems with TNG. I see Caprica, and BSG for that matter, as the other extreme to the spectrum.

I wish we had a show like Farscape back. How Farscape dealt with characters was great and while they had to do very dark things, they were at least likable and you understood the motivations for why they had to go that path. Same thing with Doctor Who. The characters light up a lot of dark moments with humor or just an understanding of motivations. Caprica is just so drab and I don't think there was one thing involving humor I've seen in the series.

SUNDAY
Amazing Race (CBS)
Mad Men (AMC)

MONDAY
Chuck (NBC)
How I Met Your Mother (CBS)

TUESDAY
Glee (FOX)

Wednesday
Survivor: Nicaragua (CBS)
Modern Family (ABC)

Thursday
Community (NBC)
30 Rock (NBC)
The Office (NBC)
Fringe (FOX)

I've given up on The Event and Undercovers already. Eight and a half hours of TV with one show's season ending soon (Mad Men) and limited runs for two others (Race and Survivor). I've been trying to cut back on TV for the last two years. I think I might have finally done that.
