The way I see it, the Marines would have this uniform design from the TWOK period on through TNG. Not quite sure about TOS era versions yet, but I'm a'thinkin' on it...

^^^ Agreed about the uniforms. I did a similar thing many years ago for Starfleet SEALs.

A funny thing happened today with my CafePress stuff. I've got a number of items up with the SFMC logo emblazoned on them, and was rather pleased to have a cleaned up, and much nicer looking, version of the logo to show off.

Turns out the new one is a bit too close to the actual USMC logo, AND the Marines have their own fan portal on CafePress, so the new logo got flagged (oddly enough, the older version, which is really the same damn thing, was left alone). For now, I've got the old logo up on all the effected items, but it got me thinking about further changes to it, to avoid any further issues with the Marines.

I'm thinking of replacing the eagle with a phoenix, since startrek.com's online shop had pegged as Starfleet Academy's mascot "the Fighting Phoenixes".
