This is something I wonder about with fan art and productions a lot. Obviously it's all derivative work, but when I come across something like this technical manual I have two thoughts:

1) What an incredibly impressive project. So much work putting it all together.
2) This isn't original content, even by fan art standards. This is literally other artists work repackaged. So collage, I guess? At best?

I admit, I do find it a tad funny to see the Nova fighting BSG ships. Totally canon!
