I won't go see the movie.
I won't buy any product that has even the faintest hint of a tie-in to the movie.
I won't buy ANY Star Trek related merchandise in the immediate future lest it be construed to represent a movie-related/inspired "bump" in interest.
It's my money. I can spend it or not spend it in any damn way I please.
I won't spend a goddamn penny on "Fake Trek."
You, on the other hand, can do anything you please with your money.
Have fun!
Dude, he said he prevented his wife from buying cereal... for a movie. That's just disgusting.
I've stated that I'm looking forward to this movie, but if it sucks I'll say it sucks (as opposed to the pure haters who intend to fulfill their own prophecies). If you think that's extreme, I'd have to wonder what your other screen name is on here.
Howeever you want to justify it..
You don't get it.
I didn't write it so the rest of you would give a ****. I wrote it to express my feelings about the movie.
I don't give credibility to people turning up their noses at this movie before they have seen it.
I'm making a judgement based on the information I have available. Like I said if it turns out they undo what they've done in the same movie then I'll give them my money and go watch it.

really even if it takes a friend taking you along as a present to you go and see the film.
things like the bridge look better on the screen then in stills and stuff
like the uniforms fit within the gaps between the cage and what we saw finnegan wear in shore leave to tos.
yes some things change but the basic essence of the characters is still there.
what starfleet is and what it stands for is still there.
Warning for flaming.today my wife and I went shopping and she wanted a certain cereal. The cereal featured Fake Trek. I told her I wouldn't allow that garbage in my house. I wouldn't let her buy that cereal until she found another box that didn't feature the movie.
LOL! Worst...husband...ever!
You know, none of the money you pay to buy Apple Jacks goes to Paramount, no matter who's on the box. Kellogg's gets your money either way, whether you get the Trek box or the box of stale cereal from last year. All you did was have an argument with your wife over something not all that important. Soured the taste of those Apple Jacks, I'll bet. Come to think of it, it was probably Fruit Loops.
I can't fathom doing that to my wife, but there ya go. I guess we all have to feel strongly about something.
Turned out to be a really good movie anyway.
Not about Star Trek. Warning for continuing off topic personal talk after being asked by a mod to stop.Dude, he said he prevented his wife from buying cereal... for a movie. That's just disgusting.
It's just cereal, it's not like he backhanded a small child playing with that model of the Enterprise they have now. I am sure many people make an attempt to regulate their SOs buying practices for one reason or another. My SO only VERY begrudgingly allowed me to buy the Dawn of War game due to her intense dislike of Warhammer 40k. In retrospect this was a wise attitude on her part, as the game was total crap and nothing like WH40k.
