Love! Even if, as they told me yesterday at the cinema, that it's a men's film and I'm not supposed to go in. Go figure.
Wow, so they really do take that Men's Night thing seriously, eh? I saw it today with a couple of friends and I booked five seats in advance. There was a showing at 8 PM as part of that ludicrous Men's Night nonsense and one at 8:30 PM. We decided to book tickets for the later showing, because we were afraid they wouldn't let in the girls. I didn't think they'd take it that seriously. That's ridiculous! What were their arguments? That it is a men's film?Love! Hm, seems to be a German thing then, I guess. Morons.Men's Night at a movie theater? Never heard of that before.
today my wife and I went shopping and she wanted a certain cereal. The cereal featured Fake Trek. I told her I wouldn't allow that garbage in my house. I wouldn't let her buy that cereal until she found another box that didn't feature the movie.
Funny you should link to ex astris scientia, because the writer on that site has a very pessimistic view on the film.

Wow, thanks. I totally agree and couldn't have said it better myself.I take issue with opinions that this is some sort of new deviation from everything that came before it. It isn't.
It's the same old thing in brand new drag. The same as TMP rebooted TOS. TWOK rebooted TMP. TNG rebooted everything. DS9 and VOY and ENT remade it over and over again. The inconsistencies just drive home the fact that this is a big fantasy world that doesn't even take itself too seriously.
I love it, but I'm not gonna go all religious cleric over it.
You know, I'm pretty sure I've asked you before not to do that. Discuss the post, don't attack the poster.Wow this guy is a fucking crybaby

This is the ravings of a certifiable lunatic. Leave your poor wife alone to eat her damned cereal you sad, sad man.
But...but...their uniforms are just so damn stylish...I mean - black leather boots and trenchcoats go with everything...I was 100% behind this movie until the NuTrek Gestapo kicked my door down, produced a court order which declared my TOS DVDs contraband and made me watch as they smashed them one by one over a bust of Quito as Spock.
Kinda soured me on the whole thing.
Well, it is a parallel universe. Officially. Canonically.I tend to think it’s best to see the Abramsverse as a parallel universe which prime-universe Spock and Nero traveled to by accident. The normal trek-universe and timeline is still intact, with the post-nemesis/post-countdown federation wondering what happened to Ambassador Spock.

Silver lining, and all that...

You should see what they did to me with that Quinto Spock bust.
My childhood still walks funny.
