To say that the Syfy one isn't better would be a major understatement. Syfy's battle field Los Angeles can't even hold the dirty underwear of hollywood's version.
Not to mention several things about Syfy's version that made it impossible to truly enjoy. Nothing in the background looked like Los Angeles, it looked like they filmed the movie in a location of an abandoned town out in the south. They didn't even have a scenes of actually city unless it was their terrible animation. There was no actual good fighting scenes. Usually you have dead bodies around, a larger military force in the beginning so that you can show its crew being picked off one by one. There was only that 2 soldiers the two air force, and that girl who used to play a texas ranger in Walker Texas Ranger. The uniforms weren't of modern day military. It looked like the Army was using Vietnam day uniforms. the Air force looked like WW2 uniforms.
The designs of the aliens was terrible. What invading alien force just shows their thinking center? And the mothership looked to much like independence day, with a blue damage beam coming down from the center.
They just wasted all that money, which could have been used for different things like saving up to make one big production, that is atleast semi-good.
