(Non-Trek) "The Adventures of Tom Morrow" Pilot Episode

Glad to see you back at it.

If I can make a suggestion? Your films would feel "smoother" if you didn't cut to CHARL-E every time he speaks and back when Tom does. It feels very choppy. Let some of CHARL-E's dialog happen in shots with Tom, or at least flow over the cuts, so the line overlaps the cut. Since CHARL-E doesn't move, at least seeing Tom's reaction as he speaks would keep the scene more alive. It's a small thing that will make a big difference.

Not much of an update, but it's something I wanted to do this holiday season. At less than thirty seconds, it is my shortest video yet, but it serves it's purpose well enough, I suppose. Happy Holidays everyone!

Hey all, sorry for the total silence over the past six months, but I have had a LOT going on, including but not limited to a move across country, a new job, and another trip to the hospital. I do not currently have access to CHARL-E, but I may be able to put together a simple video in the next few weeks to try to keep this series afloat. It's been dorrmant for a long time, so I may be a bit rusty, but I'll try to get some new stuff uploaded soon! Stay tuned!

EDIT: It's not much, but CHARL-E has an announcement to make (the footage is actually old, but the message is brand new). Check it out at the link below!

I do enjoy that you do this.
perhaps the sum of the parts is greater than the whole if you don't mind discounting the negative numbers. (Red Dwarf Rimmer thing)
But please keep on

UPDATE: So production has hit a snag. AGAIN. I mentioned in my last post that I had moved cross-country in the past six months. I was, regrettably, forced to leave CHARL-E behind due to his size and the fact that I was flying economy with limited luggage. I've inquired about having him shipped to me, but again, due to his size and my limited budget to pay for shipping costs, I'm not sure I could afford to get him back. I'm also considering rebooting the series and starting fresh with a new robot (not my favorite option, although it does present some interesting options). Or I could just scrap this whole project altogether (my least favorite option). I don't know, what do you guys think?

So Charl-e was captured by the Boltons ( a backwards race that steals advanced tech) and Tom has to find and rescue him with the help of Charl-B (a misfit ship's computer program that only shows up on a vid screen.

Would you like some toast?
Tom faces a mutiny when the ship's toaster feels it should have been promoted to 1st computer.
A Funny thing happened on the way to Earth.
Tom catches up to the Boltons. Seems Charl-E programing code has become their bible and they must destroy all redundant computer code. Can Tom invoke logic and turn the tables on them?

What brand and model is Charl-E?

I really wish I knew. My step dad just had this old junk vaccuum cleaner sitting around, Lord only knows from when and where, and I took it apart to make CHARL-E. All I know is he has the words "carry handle" on his forehead, and that was on the main faceplate of the vaccuum cleaner.

So Charl-e was captured by the Boltons ( a backwards race that steals advanced tech) and Tom has to find and rescue him with the help of Charl-B (a misfit ship's computer program that only shows up on a vid screen.

I REALLY like this idea! I may try to do something with it. I'm thinking the Boltons stole the ship also, because I'm gonna need to build new and different looking sets due to my move (I don't know if I can reproduce the set I had from the earlier episodes) but we'll see.

Okay, so was he just the shell of the vacuum or were the guts still inside? Because if just the shell he'd weigh very little and not be that expensive to ship.

Or, ask whoever has him to look all over it and see if there is a model #. If so you might be able to find another.

Finally, you could of course just make a new robot out of something you find locally. Tom could have transplanted Charl-E's memory components into a new 'bot after the old one wore out. Charl-E might have a bit of an identity crisis though. :)

The Boltons could have modified Charle-E or you saved him as a basket of components and put him back together in a new body.

He is, for the most part, just the shell, although the wheelbase component has significant weight relative to its proportions. I'm thinking of having him shipped in pieces, one piece at a time, which may reduce the shipping weight. The wheelbase still makes me a bit nervous, but we will save that for last.

The more I think about it, the less I want to build another robot. If I could buy a large enough generic remote control robot, that might work nicely, but I've yet to find one that wasn't too tiny.

And we're back, ladies and gents! "The Adventures of Tom Morrow" has a new and improved intro, which you can view below! Most of the intro is basically the same, but there are some big differences. For example: an animated title! Hatless Tom Morrow! And a BRAND NEW CHARL-E!

Check it all out at the link below, and stay tuned for brand new episodes! :D
