News No TrekToday News Tomorrow

We got lucky. We only got the outside feeder bands. So pretty much, a bit of rain and a bit of wind - low tropical storm strength. We got less than was expected, but this storm confounded the experts. Floridians will tell you that hurricanes do what they want to do. Sometimes like now, it works in your favor. Other times, not.

The power flickered once or twice, but stayed on. There is some flooding in the area and of course, trees down, but that's the extent of it up here. We could still get a power outage, but hopefully not.

I have my fingers crossed that the worst is over and maybe we can go out to eat tomorrow night. I'm sick of being in the house.

Pray for those more impacted. A small family lost 2/3 of its family down in Wilmington; the father survived but the mother and a small baby died when a tree fell onto their house. That was my biggest fear here as we have a long row of very tall skinny pine trees. But thankfully, the winds were weak.

Sounds terrible! How can you live like that? The worst we've had in the UK were the storms of 1987 I think and they were pretty severe but nothing like what you're receiving! Take care!

I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say, safety first and Trek - well - second, in this case.

Keep safe. Star Trek will still be there when it's all over.
