I'm watching Everwood right now.
I would strongly suggest that you commit to jumping off the sears tower head first into a thumb tack before watching Everwood.

Lots of new shows are starting up in the next month, and some great shows are returning between now and October. If you are dying to watch some Scifi NOW, why not try an older show you missed the first time around?

This seems a bit easier. I'm hard pressed to name many good current sci-fi shows (only one I've regularly still running series I've watched is Falling Skies, which.. see title). There are things I want to see - Continuum, most likely - but that's kind of dependent on the if and when they air on UK TV.
Anyway I enjoyed Charlie Jade, which is a nice, relatively short and relatively recent series that it's quite possible you haven't seen. I also rather liked Terra Nova, although I don't think that view is very common.
I watch Haven because I like the cast and some of the mystery regarding the overall story arc (heavy emphasis on "some"). However, the writing is just about some of the worst I've ever seen on television. The situations are flimsy and the explanations are even worse. I'd go as far as to say the writing on Haven is worse than Smallville.
There's interesting back story running in Haven, the interconnection of the core cast... but the threat/freak of the week is usually pretty shit. The one with the mermen was worse than the Buffy with the swim team that turned into mermen. Maybe I just don't like mermen? Yes I've seen cabin in the woods, but even that was wet behind the ears.

I don't know what to recommend. There's nothing sci-fi or fantasy that I watch right now. Supernatural maybe...
But Treat Williams was awesome in that show.
