Wait, 'out of ideas'? Already? God, Chibnall is frighteningly incompetent!
Or is telling the truth; let's be frank: It's not easy to write fiction, particularly sci-fi. The last time I tried, I was in high school, the script was even more blatantly derivative than any of his stories, and the instructor still gave it a B+ despite admitting to not understanding all of it.
I may be a tad harsh at times, which isn't always fair or right. These stories coming out could have been a lot worse, believe it or not.
Or maybe he's trolling the audience, if there is to be a new year's day episode. And if there is, then even I finally got outdone in terms of cheesy tacky derivative stuff. Other friends were begging for Moffat back after the first week and have already put the new series on the sideburner a couple weeks later all while I continue on in hopes anything will actually improve. But some are giving every episode 10 out of 10. The jokes I could make but won't despite how laughable some episodes have been. At least Chibnall is succeeding in getting a new fanbase. It's typical for every era, actually. But before I get too far, remember that Classic WHO has pitiful episodes some people rate very highly as well. While nobody's expecting 10 episodes of "Blink", we're getting 10 of what largely amount to "Black Orchid", "Meglos", and "The Dominators". Or whatever lackluster, scribbled out, mediocre snoozefest episodes are poor in the writing department but people still like or love - even I don't like all those episodes mentioned.
Even better, in 1982, people were screaming "the wet vet in space". Nowadays it's apparently "Broadchurch in space".
