This is discussion? Looks closer to snide trolling to me, but I'm not a mod and no one has said anything about it, so I guess it's ok. But at some point it just becomes easier to walk away rather than deal wading through shitposts looking for actual discussion. God forbid someone post positive news about the Switch without being attacked. "Plummeting week-over-week"? MK8 Deluxe has only been out for 2 and a half weeks! Virtually every game drops after it's first week of sales. MK8D sold over 500,000 copies (digital + retail) in the first 2 days of being on sale which puts it outselling previous Mario Kart games at launch, so Aldo was correct in saying that. If you go "Guys and gals! You aren't agreeing with me!!!! I'm not coming back here every again if you can't play my way!!!! Wahhhhh!!!!" then you deserve what you get. Because is that really a discussion if everyone agrees? And I do love the fact you didn't quote the mod, Timby who said it beautifully... 'Believe it or not, people are free to express their own opinions. This forum isn't your personal echo chamber.'
While true your comments to Aldo were kind of needlessly trollish. Not really cool. The old mod standby "Keep the comments on the post not poster," apply to everyone. Thanks
Nintendo has announced that their subscription service will now allow players to access (eventually) a myriad of the classic NES games, which is also probably why they don't have too much heartburn about cancelling production of the NES Classic (Which I was able to finally get and LOVE)... Meanwhile, my wife and kids are playing the crap out of the Switch and loving it.. Especially the portability of it.
I want to like this (and get one), but not thrilled by the gimmicky nature of the portable component. Rather it be a traditional console. Lots of moving parts to break, or extra parts I have to pay for to make it work (real controllers, etc.) Excited about the new Zelda game, just seems like a lot to jump in to play it. And as I'll likely never undock it, how much of the overall money is essentially wasted for me, while providing more things to break?
Pretty sure it'll work just fine if you never undock it. Just remember to keep the Joy-Cons charged. But you'd have to do that with any console nowadays.
Ironically, the wife and kids almost never have it docked while playing. Only when it's "family game time" on the weekends do we sit around the big screen and play...
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle comes out in August. It was one of the first games rumoured to be a launch title all the way back in 2016. I actually hate the Rabbid things but another exclusive game is always good. Also a Kirby game and a Yoshi game for 2018. Pokemon in normal style and Metriod Prime 4 are in development. Metriod will probably come out on the Switch 2. https://www.theverge.com/2017/6/13/15779078/nintendo-spotlight-e3-2017-switch-games-trailers-news
And here is Nyko to the rescue: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017...ck-gets-beaten-by-hyper-portable-nyko-option/ Maybe they could put WiFi on it? Or does the Switch have that build in and can it be used while docked?
There we go. I figured it would only be a matter of time before some 3rd party manufacturer would improve on the dock. I'm surprised it took this long, though.
I'm not. Product development takes a while. I'm more surprised it's come out this quickly--the Switch hasn't even been out 4 months yet. That's a pretty rapid turnaround for a third party manufacturer that presumably has no official blessing. I'd rather they take as much time as they need to get it right, in any case. Nothing worse than some crappy third party knockoff that wasn't designed well, especially one with electronics that could damage your system if they're done poorly.
True enough. Well, put it this way, I guess I'm surprised it wasn't announced sooner. But I'm happy it came at all, if only to put Nintendo on their toes. If there's any revision to the Switch in the future, which there most likely will be, I hope that it will come with a better version of the dock. But hey, what's Nintendo's loss is another's gain. I hope they learn from this.
Would love one, but I can't justify the cost when all I really want to play is Mario Kart 8. Most of Nintendo's output doesn't thrill me, and the purchase of my Wii (back in the day) was justified more by stuff like Fragile Dreams, NiGHTS, that Final Fantasy town-management sim thing, and miscellaneous other stuff that escapes my recollection right now. The various Marios, Metroids and so forth were all, I'm sure, great stuff but didn't hold much interest for me.
