Currently I find myself fascinated with the Nintendo Switch. And I mean the console itself. It looks like an interesting concept. However, when the Xbox One and PS4 were starting their life cycle (just before release) they already had a large prospective release list with AAA title. At this moment Nintendo Switch is lacking.
I'm not sure why you were expecting Western AAA games on the Switch. The Nintendo Switch is going to be a home for Nintendo games, Japanese third party games, and Indie games. Getting The Witcher, Call of Duty, or Grand Theft Auto was never a possibility.
I am dumbfounded why the console builder has not announced what they are developing themselves.
...they have? Arms, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, 1 2 Switch, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Switch, etc. A few too many ports, but it's not a terrible lineup for a first year.
This seems a far cry from the turn of the century when they were drumming up support from Retro, Rare and Factor 5. Has Nintendo's power really waned that much?
I wish the console the best and I will keep a close eye on it, but so far Nintendo appears to have gotten the hard things right but the easy things wrong.
Rare was purchased by Microsoft.
Factor 5 is dead.
Retro is owned by Nintendo, so they will have a game or two in development. I expect it's being held back to make a big splash at E3.
