I'm not looking forward to it.
This first one was a mess, ruined by constant camera-shaking. It had no plot yet legion of plotholes (or perhaps plot absurdities is a better way to put it), a caricature of a villain, and was completely mindless.
I will also never understand why most Niners hate the episode "Valiant," yet ST09 is extremely popular, even though what little plot that does have is just a rehashed (albeit far more incoherent) version of "Valiant's" plot.
I expect more of the same from the next one.

No. If this movie works, the franchise is good for exactly one more sequel. That sequel will then be in the same make-or-break position. The days where they can make a crappy movie and still have a sequel as a given are not coming back.
