Nimoy saying Kirk is dead is the pot calling the katra black

Am I the only one that prefers a Shat-free Trekfreshening?

In principle I'd prefer a Nimoy-less one as well.

At this point, I'd mainly prefer that the producers go ahead and do whatever it is they've decided is best to do - as well as they can, with as little interference as possible.

If that's Nimoy-in/Shatner-out, fine. If that means both of them in at some point, fine.

On the day that I see it, I'll have a qualified opinion about whether they were right or wrong. ;)

Unless, as more people are beginning to think, this is all a publicity stunt anyway...

Whoever would think such a thing?

Mainly folks who consider themselves so sharp, skeptical and sophisticated that obvious truths often elude them. ;)

Well, if they really don't have Shat in there as Kirk, why is it they can't go 5 minutes without a statement about it? I'm pretty sure Nurse Chapel isn't in it
(at least not the original), and surprisingly enough, no one is making a stink about it. No "I don't do cameos", no "It would be waaay to hard", or "I really realy wanna be in it but Abrams says he can't work me in", nothing. It just seems kind of odd that no one else is doing the public crybaby routine. And considering the number of people desprately wanting Kirk, I think it's a stunt.

It actually would disappoint me, because I think it would come off as a fanboyish stunt.

You know what would be awesome? If they did work a way for old Kirk to be in the film with old Spock. But William Shatner refused to do it because the part wasn't integral enough for him. So they had to recast old Kirk. I would LMFAO.

The producers have had very, very little to say about this whole business. Studio folk at Paramount have had nothing to say about it.

Go ahead, do a search.

Abrams said back in August that Shatner wasn't in it, but that they were looking for a meaningful way to fit him in. August. Roberto Orci has informally volunteered a few low-key comments about it over at www.trekmovie.com.

You know who's the only one who "can't go five minutes without a statement," right?

It's the Shat. He's unhappy. He makes some pouting comments, and so anyone who interviews him is sure to bring it up. When they do, he pouts some more.

Finally someone asked Nimoy about it, and he made a brief statement. I fully expect that the next time George Takei or Walter Koenig has the ear of a reporter they'll be asked about it, too.

The producers, on the other hand, are keeping their heads down and their mouths shut and their options open and are busy making their movie. A movie which - right now - doesn't have William Shatner in it.

Yeah, except that despite what he says about "cameos" the plain fact is that Shatner will hawk timeshares or diet plans on the sole condition that the check clears the bank.

Re: Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek: Shatless

Spock must time travel back beyond Kirk's death to warn his former self.

Re: Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek: Shatless

"A Black Sheriff!?"

"He's Black?!"

"It worked in Blazing Saddles."

"Ooooooooh."

"Cover the field Vaughn! Bring in the astro turf!" :guffaw:

My personal favorite: The Shat and Nemo are the Antichrists!
