Nimoy quits acting

Leonard Nimoy announced that he was retiring from acting today, saying he will "never appear as Spock again". Just got a news feed forwarded by my wife to my phone on this.:(

Nimoy has said this more than once, he was drawn out of retirement for STXI and I bet if the part was right he could be drawn out again.

I think a more accurate reading of Nimoy's retirement is that he is not actively seeking out acting roles anymore, but if something is very good he could be convinced.

Yeah, Trek Today reported his intentions to retire from acting weeks ago. :(

And it was his reason for not being on BOSTON LEGAL. I think Mr. Nimoy would act again depending on what $$$ is offered.

My comment to Mr. Nimoy goes thusly:

Live long and prosper, Mr. Spock. I am, and always shall remain your friend. :-)

I was unspeakably glad to see his fine (and if I may say so, logical) role in STXI. In my mind, that was a perfect final crowning act for what was an amazing contribution to Star Trek.

I am convinced that Star Trek quite possibly owes its existence to Leonard Nimoy, who presented a strong character which gave the show vibrance back when Trek was a new idea.

If any actor has ever managed to obtain in my mind the rank of hero, Nimoy did it. I wish him luck in whatever mission he embarks on next.
