A Lin directed, Meyer/Jung/Pegg co-penned Borg film....
I think I just came a little.
I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
That's fanwankier than Rogue One!

When a ticket, popcorn, M&Ms, and soda goes for $30+, a cinematic reach-around isn't much to ask for.
Well, your first mistake is getting popcorn, M&M's, and soda at the cinema. When a ticket, popcorn, M&Ms, and soda goes for $30+, a cinematic reach-around isn't much to ask for.

Ignoring the general ridiculousness of that statement, Meyer is an old family friend of J.J's, so if he was to hire a previous Star Trek director, Meyer is the only one I can see him choosing.
I never said he was going to hire him. I simply said that of all the people who have directed Trek movies in the past, Meyer is the only one I could see J.J. hiring. And Roddenberry didn't think Meyer's movies were Star Trek. Whenever a new team takes over and brings a new interpretation it can be hard for the old team to adjust.Yeah, whatever. Of course Abrams will be signing him up tomorrow. That's why Meyer is on record as more or less saying he doesn't think his reboot movies are even Star Trek.

You'll find it funny how many people will find positives in something they dislike where a big paycheck is involved.
True.
The more I think about this...if I said before that I think it's unlikely that Meyer is working on the next Trek film, I believe I'll take that back. There's a reasonable likelihood, IMO, that this is exactly what he's doing - most probably participating in writing it.
That sounds to me more like Meyer trying to give people that impression. I just don't see CBS greenlighting a second show before the first one has aired. The main reason they're making Discovery is to promote All Access. A second Star Trek show would largely attract the same audience they're already hoping will subscribe. That's why they're making things like The Good Fight to attract a different audience to All Access.TrekMovie: Are we talking more feature film because as far as I know, there is only one television project, I assume.
Meyer: You can assume.
This tells me it's television.

Which is why I think it's animation. Paramount knows if it wants to improve Trek's "niche" it needs to bring in younger viewers. That sounds to me more like Meyer trying to give people that impression. Of all the possibilities suggested, animation is probably my favorite idea. You're right about the need for younger fans. Otherwise you end up with the entire fandom going, "When I was your age the Klingons didn't have these new fangled ridges. We just painted a guy to look like a Mexican."Which is why I think it's animation. Paramount knows if it wants to improve Trek's "niche" it needs to bring in younger viewers.

Well as has been noted elsewhere, whatever project he's working on, he's most likely acting primarily as a consultant instead of as a writer. If it is animation, he could help bring a level of sophistication and depth which would be very welcome.Could it be animation? Sure. Doesn't make much sense to have a 70+ year old man working on it.
