Nicholas Meyer Confirms Upcoming 4K UHD Release Plans for STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN

Watched the Director's Edition yesterday. Seemed a little dark in places and had one odd cut between Khan's "where is she?" scene and going back to the Enterprise. He barely gets the dialogue out before they cut.

Though this is the best (and likely last) transfer of the movie. Worth the $16 I paid for it.

Interesting. Does it happen on both cuts? (as it is a scene common to both cuts.)

I'll check it against the DVD when I get home. Another excuse to pop it in!

Little confused. After Khan says, "Where is she?"-- it cuts to his viewscreen and a picture of Regula -- not the Enterprise.
I looked at my 2-disc Director's cut and it is exactly the same amount of time after he says that line that the picture changes. In both cases it's just a few frames, but it doesn't cut him off. He says it and the picture changes to reflect what he is looking at on his screen.
False alarm. We sure didn't need any more drama! LOL

I noticed a few other awkward cuts but they aren't mistakes, they're on the earlier releases, they're just awkward cuts in the movie. I think we are just noticing them now because we're aware of the one mistake.

I remember in the nebula when the Enterprise fires a torpedo to knock the Reliant's nacelle off, there's an ersatz frame of Kirk in the middle of an effects shot right after he orders "fire". That always bothered me. I wonder if it got cleaned up?

Never noticed such a frame.

Could've been some dust on the disc, I'll check the disc and rerun the scene when I get a chance.

That was only on the first DVD release.

The one frame glitch of Kirk saying "Fire!" is absolutely, 100% only on the 2000 original DVD release. You can see it at 1:27:52. This error is not on the 2002 "Director's Edition" DVD. If it were, you'd see it at 1:31:21. All times are based on the NTSC Region 1 disc.

Just checked. It's at 1:27:41 in the UK PAL edition of the Director's Edition, 2002. Right after the close-up of Chekov's finger on the torpedo button, there is a single frame of Kirk before cutting to the exterior visual effects shot. Perhaps the NTSC version had it fixed?

That's so weird that it made it to the PAL Director's Edition. It's definitely not there on the US release.

Just looked at a copy of the original DVD snd there it is. Ersatz!!!!
Glad that didn't carry over to any recent releases.

Poor Gary Mitchell. Kirk makes a big deal of Spocks death being the first time he's ever faced death - I guess fighting his former best friend to death on a barren world doesn't count and is never mentioned again :(

Just a random thought as I watch the blue ray for the 50th.

Maybe he felt Mitchell had ceased to be Mitchell and it was a life or death struggle -- kill or be killed with the mutated Gary.

Where with Spock, it was Spock and he had to just sit there and watch him die helplessly.

What about Sam Kirk?
