Interesting. Even on the best, clearest shot from "Corbomite," it's still a bit hard to see that Uhura had a "Sciences" patch. I wouldn't be surprised if George Barr was working from this Ebony publicity shot rather than from an episode screen grab (which would have been hard to do back then).
Look very carefully (or better yet, go to the site and blow up the pic as far as it will go). She's wearing a Sciences insignia.
I think this might explain this pic from the old Concordance...
Or it could just be a coincidence. Although upon closer inspection, I don't think it is...
