Nice...original ALIEN trailer done Prometheus style...

Yeah, I really, really enjoyed that. Just watched the first 3 movies. Surprised at how much I enjoyed Alien3. Nowhere near as bad as the rap it usually gets, but the extended version makes it rather enjoyable.

Agreed. The story may not be the best, but every other aspect of the movie-- direction, cinematography, dialogue, music, casting-- is just about perfect, I think.

Completely agreed. I think that movie is very underrated. I think largely because of it's bleak tone and it begins by killing off a couple characters from a film that was a huge hit with the fans.

As a result, many have not given it a fair hearing.

But I loved it from the get go.

That was pretty good, but I wish the title was handled a tad better - the blocky letters tend to interfere with the visuals.

I watched the four Alien films over three nights and Alien and Aliens were still just as amazing as they were the first time. They age well. I watched the assembled cut of Alien 3. Didn't like it as much. I felt it was falling back on the 1 alien vs trapped people idea from the first film and I didn't think much of the CGI Alien either. That's not to say it's bad. I just wanted there to be some kind of escalation of threat.

Alien Resurrection. Awful. Just some movie.

I used to think this too. I had a lot more fun when I started thinking of it as a ludicrous horror comedy. I mean, a guy getting skullfucked by a chestburster? Walmart buying out Weyland Yutani? It's a film that shouldn't be taken seriously, but I don't think I'd have it any other way at this point.

That's the problem with not taking itself seriously. When you compare it to the first film it just doesn't belong in that series. It's played for laughs. I'd rather they did a sci-fi horror that wasn't related to the Alien series if they can't keep the tone of the previous 3 films.

I don't think the tone was ever constant. Alien was very much a horror, Aliens was more sci-fi/action and Alien 3, while a partial throwback to the first film, was more of a thriller than a horror.

"Alien: Resurrection" has a lot of little things in it that I love and feel are perfectly consistent with the rest of the series. It may only be in the Extended Edition, but there is a scene where Ripley 8 is being shown flashcards with pictures of them, and she is supposed to say what the pictures are. They show her a picture of a young girl, and she suddenly gets very sad. I thought that was a great, subtle reference to her daughter and Newt.

It's not the greatest movie ever, but I still really like it for what it is.
