NHL Discussion - 2009-2010 Season

So who do you take tonight: Wings or Coyotes?

Since Buffalo got eliminated and destroyed my pool and I always love an underdog, I'll be cheering for the Coyotes.

I keep forgetting that this wonderful thread is in here.

I'm pulling for Detroit big time since I'm from there but after that humiliating loss at home in Game 6 I'm really scared. But they've won 2 in Phoenix so there is hope.

I predicted the 'Yotes would win in 7 in the prediction thread, so all is going according to plan. ;) Apart from that, I'm rooting for the Cinderella story to continue.

The refs seem to be inserting themselves in this game. Blowing the whistle too early and these bogus penalties. Even the ones on the Coyotes are B.S.!!

On the subject of refs asserting themselves--

I can't remember seeing as many Diving calls over an entire season as have been called over the past couple of days. Somebody must have sent out a memo to the refs to start calling it.

The ridiculous number of Too Many Men calls comes to mind as well, but those aren't as much of a judgment call.

You should have seen some of the Flyers-Devils games. I know the Flyers aren't the most disciplined team in the world, but there were powerplays consistently for the first 10-12 minutes of some of those games (with maybe 20 seconds of regular play before another one was called).

And the Capitals fall to the Habs in game 7. Guess it reinforces the idea that the President's Trophy doesn't mean shit when you get to the games that matter.

Since the lockout ended, 3 of the 6 winners have lost in the first round - DET (05-06), SJ (08-09), and WSH this year. Only one team even advanced to the Cup finals, with DET winning in 07-08.

I'm absolutely stunned that Montreal downed the Caps. I would have bet the house on Washington. With the 2 most dangerous teams eliminated in the east -- NJ and the Habs -- who will make it to the cup final now?

No #1 team has EVER blown a 3-1 series lead against the #8 team. EVER.

Until today.

Anyone wanna bet that Bruce Boudreau's coaching career is over? He was utterly lost after Game 6-- as anyone who saw his post-game press conference saw-- and he had no anwers today. He needs to go, and Semin needs to be traded for somebody that doesn't disappear in April.

That said... Amazing turn around for the Habs. They look scary right now.

Booo I Hate the Habs!!, more than the Laughs.
That Caps guy/onwer did not look pleased.
maybe they should change their name to the Washington Chokers.

I'd really like to see a Habs/Blackhawks cup final.

Very good Hockey game. Hard hitting, and I was anxious pretty much the entire third period. Pavelski is awesome in these playoffs so far, and even Thornton made an impact. That had to be done given Marleau was out with an illness. Detroit is going to come out firing in Game 2, and hopefully the Sharks are ready. This will be a very antsy series I've got a feeling.
