NHL 2019-20: Will the Oilers actually make the playoffs?

When the NHL come back would you like go right to play off or flash the season? Would it be ok if the playoff go into Aug!

I think you play 4 games in the regular season, kind of like a play in series and then you make the playoffs best of 5 all rounds. I'm not sure you want your prior season leading into your new season, especially with Free Agency and the Draft also needing to be done.

I just don't know how you do it fairly without playing all the regular season games you had left. Does the Stanley Cup winner always have an asterisk, especially if they are a lower seed?

i not know if you can play all the Regular season and have a play off 2 .if they start in July and preseason for next season start in Sept!

I'm fine with just having the season end. All the stats count toward career totals etc. but why try to jam in a playoff in the middle of August? I know $$$, but it will forever have an asterisk.

Watching replays of past Stanley Cup games and I have been reminded how really incredible were the Montreal Canadiens of the 1970's. They have gone down as a slick skating offensive-minded team, but boy could they check and hit and play defense. A really complete team.

My favorite player, Marian Hossa, got elected to the HOF on the first ballot. There is justice in the sportsverse.

He's a borderline Hall of Famer in my books: should eventually get in, but not in his first year of eligibility.

It's frustrating that Kevin Lowe, Doug Wilson & Ken Holland got in and players like Alex Mogilny, Theo Fleury and the numerous female players that are out there. The last is extremely frustrating given that hockey needs to grow itself and the female players are definitely better than Lowe or Wilson. Holland did have a decent run in Detroit, but again, didn't need to happen now.

That's what makes the world go round. I'm a big Hossa fan. I don't think it's coincidence that the Blackhawks started winning Stanley Cups (3 to be precise) when he showed up.

Marian Hossa fucking rules, and Bowman rules for circumventing the salary cap to have Hossa signed for like ten years.

That draft lottery was a joke. Why couldn't it wait until after the qualifying round or just not include a placeholder team?

I'm not sure if it was a conspiracy, but I felt hearing the top 3 that something was off because they really want people to watch the qualifying round for it to mean something.

It's live hockey. Fans would be watching anyways.

I don't think it was a conspiracy; I just think its the league doing stupid again.

First time Hockey is played in August for the NHL and it's already playoff intensity. What an amazing start.

The hockey is great, and it's great to have it back

So, this is interesting - if the Oilers and Penguins lose their next games, they'll have a combined 25% chance at the #1 overall pick

Think about that, wow
