NHL 2008-2009 Discussion!

Re: Free agent signing.

It is good to see that the city of Chicago has gotten its passion for hockey back. Remember, well, most of the 90's and early 00's when nobody seemed to give a hoot about the Hawks? Apparently, they're leading the NHL in attendance this year! I don't know when this turn around really began--was it post-lockout?

This will be Ty Conklin's third outdoor classic. And is anyone going to (or watching) the Winter Classic this year?

I hope to watch it. Screw the Bowl games. It's all about outdoor hockey. :techman:

Nice to see the Sharks get back to the winning ways, and against one of the best teams in the east. I'm still impressed by what they are doing at home.

Re: Free agent signing.

It's hockey in Wrigley Field. It'll be great, if only for sheer novelty purposes. I'd watch even if it were pee-wee hockey.

Re: Free agent signing.

Every time Pittsburgh's gotten an injured player back, three more seem to go down. At least 16 players have missed games due to injuries. They've had games in which entire lines and defensive pairings have been filled by minor leaguers. It's getting ridiculous.

Glad to see the Sharks back to their dominating winning ways. That was a great early Christmas Present, win and shutout on the same night. Can the playoffs start immediately after the new year. ;)

I went to my first hockey game yesterday (Flyers vs. Sens). There were a couple of brave souls from Ottowa behind me during the game commenting on everything that happened in the game in their Canadian accents. But it was a really exciting game and the correct result happened, so I'm happy :D

Psht, you should have gone to that game vs. the Caps a few days ago. I don't think I've ever seen such a lopsided score from a team who was outshot that badly.

The Flyers are flying, the Penguins are waddling, life is good!

And I'll possibly catch some of the Winter Classic, assuming it's over by Rose Bowl time.

Went to the Avs- Phoenix game last night. Avs won in overtime, but it shouldn't have ever got that close. They outshot the Coyotes 46-21 and let them hang around.

And the hits keep coming. Sakic's out until at least March, Stastny broke his arm in the third and is out indefinitely.

I got to go to the Preds-Wings game tonight and it was an INTENSE game until the end. Glad to see the Predators win tonight! They played a great game and the Sommet Center was LOUD! Glad to see some great hockey live....nothing like it!!!!!!

GO PREDS!!!!

My Mom made a comment on Christmas that she hasn't been to a hockey game in like 10-15 years, so I called in a favour and scored two very awesome seats for tomorrows Ottawa/Flames game for her and I.

It is not a Christmas gift, though, because I don't do those anymore. It was an I love you gift. :D

And did I mention that I will be going to the Flames/Sens game tomorrow?

Well, the Preds beat the Red Wings on Friday and stump to total suckage now! Here's hoping for some wins soon...and very soon!!!!!!!

I hadn't watched an NHL game in ages until tonight, when I was fortunate enough to tune in to see the Leafs neatly dismantle the Senators. I'm continually being surprised by the fact that the Leafs are actually a decent team this year... not great, for sure, and it'd be nice to see them land a top-5 draft pick, but still far, far better than I expected.
