NHL 2008-2009 Discussion!

Sharks looked dominant tonight which was great to see. They were hitting, and hitting hard and crashing the net. Granted it's only one game, but if this is a hint of things to come, I'm looking forward to this season even more.

I also watched some of the Maple Leafs game. They looked good too pretty much shutting down Detroit for a good portion of that game. I was wondering how Wilson would do in his first game and they played well.

The Canucks scored six goals tonight, which is roughly their total from last season. My boy Kesler got two helpers after taking a stick and a skate in the face.

All in all, I'm feeling good and looking forward to our inevitable first round playoff collapse.

What a shocker that was, until I realized that the Flames are still coached by Mike Keenan.

That skate to Kes' face could have been nasty, glad he just got a shave rather than a smiley face across the throat. Phew!

They looked good though, but I can't help but wonder if they were all charged up after that Luc Bourdon tribute. The upcoming road trip will really test what this team is made of.

Loved watching the NHL tonight on the Center Ice Preview. Saw my first shootout tonight (Ryan Miller is clutch), and almost saw another shootout if it wasn't for Rick Nash. It was still a hell of a shot though, and they beat Dallas so I'm not complaining too much. So glad Hockey is back. Wish it was talked about more.

I've always been somewhat protective of Kesler ever since all those retards went apeshit over the whole Philadelphia thing. One of my coworkers called him a traitor . . . for considering a million dollar pay raise. Seeing him score 20 goals last year was nice, hopefully he'll continue to get better. That, and he's the only American on the roster, I believe.

The Bourdon thing probably helped, although the upcoming roadtrip is brutal. One of the main reasons that I would really like to see an NHL team in Seattle is so the Canucks could have some road games that weren't so far away, and I think it would make for a terrific rivalry.

For those who missed it or couldn't veiw the game here is a bit of the moving tribue to Luc Bourdon before the start of the Canucks game Thursday,
with Tom Cochrane playing an acoustic version af his Hit
"Big League".

Both of my teams are off to good starts this with the Rangers being 4-0 and the Coyotes being 2-0. I'm happy. :D

My boys with an ugly win last, but a win's a win. Last year, despite the rush towards the end, the Oilers missed the playoffs by just 3 points. So while a game early on doesn't seem to matter much now, it can make or break a post season berth.

Keep on going, Oil!! :techman:

Well, that was too bad about my Preds tonight. My wife and I watched much of the game and it hurt that the Preds kept tying it back up just to lose the momentum. Well, they are 2-2 so far. I do not know when I will get to see my first game this season but hopefully soon.

I dunno about you guys, but I don't think I can get used to hearing the HNIC theme on TSN. It seems... unnatural. :wtf:

I'm just hoping the Wings have the same level of success this year they had last year...

It was great to see them win the Cup again.

I celebrated the start of the season by seeing Minnesota in Atlanta on Tuesday (Atlanta lost, more's the pity since I'm a Vancouver fan). And then, last night, a rollicking win for the Canucks in Detroit ...

Sharks are 4-0 and the Ducks are 0-4. Life is great right now. Of course the Ducks are mad and past history makes me really nervous about that game. Looking forward to watching it.

It is early in the season. Keenan likes the sound of his voice. Hotdogs, although disgusting, are delicious.

I think it was a game where the Refs called everything, and the Flames failed to adjust their game. Can't wait to see the newspapers tomorrow: doom and gloom and a call to hit the panic button, I can see it.

In three consecutive Pens' goals Crosby has gotten his 200th assist, 300th point, and 100th goal!

And now the fourth has given Malkin his 200th point!:cool:
