Well at the time of this writing the game is 30-7, Baltimore misd 4th. So unless the Chiefs do something amazing in the next seven-eight minutes our post-season is over, about as much as was expected, really.
All and all I don't think the Chiefs did too bad this past season or even in their lone playoff game all things considered. Going from last season when they were 4 and 12 to this season when they lead the division.
That's impressive.
During this playoff game the places where they failed the most is on the O. Cassell threw way too many interceptions and the Offense just couldn't get anything done. Period. Their lone TD was pretty much a fluke.
The D I think made an impressive showing considering they were on the field for most of the game and did a good job of holding back the Raven's offense and preventing several TDs, making them Field Goals instead. This team in the next year needs to work on their offense. Bowe obviously a force to be reckoned with and more needs to be done to make sure he gets the ball whenever possible and gets the prtoection he needs for his run.
Cassel has shown some remarkable improvement this season, esp. post-op, but he also showed his inexperience and weaknesses in the Chief's last Regular Season game and certainly in their lone Post-Season showing.
The O really could use some work as they lost this game for us. The D had to be tired and hurting when by the time they walk off the field and back to the bench they've got 2 seconds to cool their heels before they're back up.
The Defense' fatigue showed in the last half of the game but they cannot be blamed too much considering how much they were out their in the First. Make no mistake Cassel and the O lost this game for us. They just couldn't get anything done and had things been just a little bit different they would've been shut-out.
Haley's shown... "some" improvements as a Coach and learned from the "mistake" he makes at times of being too risky when there's no call for it. Going for it on 4th and Very Short today in Raven's terrirtory wasn't a bad call to make. Going for it on 4th and a Short Goal when you could get a sure-thing with a FG is a bit riskier call, as he did a few games ago, that FG being pretty much we would have needed to win.
Chiefs, keep your chins up as you did your city proud this season. You were the division champs. You went from being a team that imploded and had a whole city mad at you and your coach to being in a playoff game leading the division. Nothing to be ashamed of. Hone your skills and you'll be stronger cotenders next season if this season is what results from the second "re-building year" I can't wait to see what you do next season.
