NFL Talk - 2010-11 Season

The Dolphins are (reportedly) trying to get Sparano extended.

Good luck on that.

Evidently, they were talking to Eric Mangini at some point during this fiasco as well.

This is what happens when you make fun of teams with incompetent owners... you get one of your very own. :scream:

Wow, how stupid is Miami? Not that I want Sparano to lose his job, but the Dolphins have put themselves in a really awkward position. How comfortable do you really think Sparano is working there now that he just watched his job get offered away for $8 million? Maybe Harbaugh will still become a Bronco.

As for Luck, I say good for him.

Maybe Parcells should have hung around. He left every other team he was with in better shape, but Miami has unraveled pretty quickly.

What's with all the former Bears as head coaches? Frazier, Fisher, formerly Singletary and now Jim Harbaugh. Am I missing anybody?

And Ron Rivera is certainly still in a position to at least interview for a head coaching gig.

Well this is just wonderful. It seems our local NBC affiliate and our one and only cable affiliate are in a dispute and as of this morning we no longer have access to NBC. And I live in a condo so I can't put up an outdoor antenna and I'm far enough away from the NBC affiliate that I'm guessing an indoor antenna may not work either. So no Saturday playoffs for me this weekend.

Thanks Mediacom. Greedy bastards.

Big sigh of relief, they got the contract worked out today. So fortunately I won't have to scramble to find the game tomorrow.

Local paper (The Kansas City Star) ran a special section today on the Chiefs' playoff game. Included in this section was the paper's "fantasy" bracket for how the Post-Season will go.

(They also had a "real" bracket which ends with Atlanta and New England going to the Super Bowl, with NE wining.)

What the fuck, I'll go with this "fantasy bracket" too because I'm a Chiefs fan, dammit!

Tony G's old team vs. his new team huh? That would be interesting. (Not to mention Pioli going up against his old team in NE). Don't see it panning out that way though. At least not on the AFC side. We're probably getting ready to see NE yet again in the SB.

Which would be a beautiful thing! I like their chances, but the AFC is stacked. Pittsburgh is goo, as always. The Colts scare the hell out of me, as always. The Chiefs have fallen off toward the end of the season, but the fact that they are New England West worries me because they have enough ex-Pats to know something about how they play. Baltimore destroyed them in the playoffs last year and has the kind of D that can make Brady hurry, which is the way to make him play crappy. And the Jets, despite the butt kicking last month, beat them earlier in the season.

I picked Pats-Falcons for the Superbowl, but in the NFC would have picked New Orleans or Green Bay if they didn't have to go on the road 3 straight times.

Hey don't give me a hard time, I'm rooting for KC this week!

And while I can't bring myself to root for the Jets or Colts, I'd prefer if Indy lost.

Well I appreciate that, the Chiefs can use all the good mojo they can get.

I just did a little research. The Pats, Steelers, or Colts have represented the AFC in the last 7 Super Bowls, and 8 of the last 9. The Pats were in 4 of those 8, with the Steelers and Indy each having 2 appearances.

Yeah...there was that Raiders team that got in a few years back.

More variety in the NFC. Looks like only the Giants and Rams have been in twice since 2000.

As for the Chiefs, I have no problem with them. (My ulterior motive right now is that I think the Pats would have a better chance against them than the Ravens next week.) I've enjoyed watching Cassel develop into a good starter. I watched all the games in 08 when he started here and he grew up week to week. They went conservative with him at first but took off the reigns later in the season. I still wonder how he would have fared in a playoff game.

Yeah, the NFC has actually sent 9 different teams to the Super Bowl in the last 9 years. No repeats over a 9 year period. If either Atlanta or Green Bay makes it this year, it'll be no repeats over a 10 year period.

Any speculation that the Denver Broncos are considering moving Tim is completely false.

Myself and our entire organization think very highly of him. We are pleased with his first year as a Bronco.

To clarify my thoughts on Tim Tebow... I think he's a very good football player, and if anyone can turn themselves into a great QB, Tim can.

They spent a first-round pick on him and gave him a $33 million contract, of course they're going to try and make something out of McDaniels' folly.

Wow, if this is Matt Hasselbeck's final game as a Seahawk, he's sure giving the fans their money's worth. Well, except for the "fans" who seem to think Charlie Whitehurst is the second coming of Joe Montana.

lol, how funny would it be if the Seahawks win this?

Would that make them the worst team to ever win a playoff game or would winning mean that they aren't quite as bad as their record indicates?

Wow what a stop by Seattle. I don't know much about Pete Carroll, but he sure has his team ready to play today.

I forgot I wasn't watching live, I was little behind on the DVR. Caught up now, this game is reminding me a lot of the Chiefs-Houston game where the chiefs couldn't close out a big lead.
