WTF Pack??! Show some sportsmanship and stop running up the score against the hapless Cowgirls! :guffaw:

Christ, the Raiders/Chiefs game was brutal! What was that?! And I express again how much I hate the NFL's rules when it comes to OT. Really the other team should get a chance to try and to counter the score. They should play the full OT "quarter" and then settle on if it's a win or a tie.

I also don't like the sudden death kind of format the NFL uses in OT. It makes the coin toss way too important to the outcome of the game.

I much prefer the CFL's OT rules that give the other team a shot to at least match the points.

I'm sorry but I found it awesome. Now ESPN is spending pretty much the entire Sportscenter talking about the Cowboys, and Fox is calling next week's cowboys game the "America Game of the Week." What a joke, but we do get to see the implosion every week and I guess that is entertaining.

Oh. :o

Hell, with some fans these days you never know. :alienblush:

Those would be the Philadelphians.

Bah. I like the NFL Overtime. Defense and special teams actually mean something, and if they're good you'll get your shot. Let the NCAA/CFL system stay in those places, it's fine for them.

Eh. Watching the Cowboys lose is always good, but even that lost it's luster, that game was so boring and sad. And they're just kind of pathetic now.

Fricking Mangini. Even after he left the Jets he continues to annoy us.

I was hoping the Lions would hold out against the Jets, shame that they didn't. They definitely seem to finally be on the right track, though. :techman:

Didn't the Chiefs get the ball first? I too don't like the OT rules in the NFL (I like the idea of a 10 minute full quarter) but this game wasn't decided on a coin toss. It was decided by some clutch effort from Jacobie Ford.

But what if you get into a game where you have two teams who have been driving up and down the field all day and literally nobody has been able to stop each other.... then the game will most likely be decided on a coin toss.

The ideal system in my mind would be a guarenteed one possession per team. If a team is leading after the two possessions, then that team wins. If they are still tied, then it should go to sudden death.

Overall, this was a good weekend for me. Specifically, Denver failed to lose. With that said, I wouldn't be shocked to wake up and find the league forced Denver to forfeit one win just so they could lose this weekend.

They should just play the whole 15 and then declare it either a tie or a win. What's the point of giving them timeouts and all of that again if the first team that wins the toss only needs to get in FG range to win? It's stupid, really.

Well, I guess the defense for one side will have to step up and do their job. And I'd rather teams got punished for having garbage defenses than change a system that works perfectly fine at the pro level.

Oh, great, the annual overtime debate. I was wondering when this was going to come up.

Statistically speaking, the scenario of "team A wins the coin toss, receives the ball and scores to win the game, while team B never touches the ball" only happens around 30 percent of the time. I don't see it as a glaring hole in the NFL's rules (and there are plenty of more important things for the competition committee to focus upon at the moment). Football is played on both sides of the ball; if your defense can't hack it well enough to give the offense a chance, your team probably didn't deserve to win that game.

Gotta love those fickle Vikings fans. One minute they're calling for Childress' head and the next they're talking about making the playoffs.

I don't think I realized just how bad Dallas was until last night. They looked horrible.

Buh bye, Wade Phillips. Thanks for playing.

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones fired coach Wade Phillips on Monday, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Ed Werder.

The move comes less than a year after he was given a two-year contract extension for leading the Cowboys to their first playoff win in over a decade. He will be replaced by offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, the sources said.

Guess we'll get to see what Jason Garrett is made of. Either that or the ship's too far sunk for a coaching change to matter.

How is he going to motivate a team that's completely given up? That game yesterday was an embarrassment to football.
