NFL Talk - 2010-11 Season

I feel like a kid on Halloween who's just been told that after school I'm going to get beat up by a giant kid in a Favre jersey, a giant kid in a Peterson jersey, a giant kid in a Shiancoe jersey, a giant kid in a Harvin jersey, a giant kid in a Rice jersey and a giant kid in a Moss jersey. :(

The giant kid in the Favre jersey is 8,000 years old and is not playing his best ball. The giant kid in a Harvin jersey suffers from unpredictable migraines. The giant kid in a Rice jersey is out of action for half the season with a serious injury; we don't know how he'll play when he's back. The giant kid in the Moss jersey is slowing down and has a tendency in recent years to only show up when he wants to.

Point is, the Vikings need a lot of pieces to fall into place to become the team they were last year.

The story that's starting to develop, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Mike Reiss, is that Moss had a tantrum during halftime of Monday's game, barking at the Patriots quarterbacks coach, and then came back to the team's facility on Tuesday morning and went straight for Belichick, after Belichick had said in the postgame press conference that the Patriots had gameplanned for Moss to not be thrown to all night, instead just using him to stretch the field. The argument was brutal enough that Belichick immediately began making calls to teams that might be willing to take Moss.

I still don't see how this makes the Patriots' offense better in any way, shape or form. Brady's completion percentage is going to plummet.

At least Monday night's game will be entertaining. Favre will be in full-on Fuck It, I'm Going Deep mode, and it will be glorious.

Kind of wondered if there was some behind the scenes drama that led to the trade. Still, a 3rd round pick seems like an awfully low price for Moss. I only hope Moss pulls his diva routine often in Minnesota and causes total chaos on the Vikings team.

His yardage will plummet, I'm sure he'll rack up on 2-3 yard receptions.

Let him fuck the Jets over first, then tank it.

God, Whisenhunt should be fired just for the sheer idiocy of not getting rid of Leinart before the rest of the league figured out that he was awful. If the Cardinals had traded him at the start of the offseason, they would have at least gotten a 4th-round pick or so for him from some team looking for a quarterback. (Read: Buffalo.)

Right now Leinart is the 3rd string QB and isn't even activated for the games.

It's not quite the same thing, but this reminded me of that period of time where the 49ers seemingly would only start 7th round draft picks at QB (Tim Rattay and Ken Dorsey anyone?).

Sad thing is, I know some 49ers fans who wouldn't be bothered at all to see one of those guys back in place of Alex Smith.

Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson get out of Cleveland, and both start plummeting down the depth charts. You think either of them wants their old job back?

Bring back Shaun Hill!

I don't remember which NFL show it was where one of the talking heads, in talking about Alex Smith, said "at some point, it may not be the coordinator".

Oh gawd...the Bears are starting 10,000 year old pile of suck Todd Collins at QB this week.

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=5658555

Why they're not playing Caleb Hanie is beyond me--at the very least he didn't look like he was going to fall over and die like Collins did last week. Enjoy your first victory, Carolina Panthers. :wtf:

That said, did the Bears violate league rules by having Cutler practice yesterday? Everything I've read indicates players with concussion symptoms can't play until fully cleared by doctors.

Collins will start the first quarter, he'll be dead and Hanie will be starting the second, and then in the third quarter, the Bears will set up a triage tent on the sidelines and start punting on first down.

Mike Mulligan and Brian Hanley were actually talking about that on AM 670 in Chicago this morning. (I love that I can get that up here in Madison.) The hosts couldn't figure it out, and neither could the Tribune's Brad Biggs, who was in the studio with them, so they said "fuck it" and actually used one of Biggs' numbers for the league office. They were essentially told that the league policy about needing a "cleared to resume football activities" note from two doctors is more of an advisory guideline than an official rule.

Oh, NFL. Never change.

That Bears game was painful to watch. 9 sacks in one half? That's unbelievable.

I'm surprised you haven't been out here, praising Bradford and the Rams more. I'm not saying they're Super bowl contenders yet, but they have been looking better than at any other time in the past couple of seasons.

I have posted about My Beloved Rams a few times. Our defense looks pretty good.

Playing at Detroit Sunday, we have a chance at going to 3-2. The first winning record for the Rams since I can't remember when.

GO RAMS!!
