NFL Schedule Released

Crap, the Ravens have 3 prime-time games in a 4-week stretch. And one's against the Steelers. That's a recipe for disaster right there. :(

At least the others are against the Browns and the Packers.

Otherwise we've got a pretty easy looking schedule. The Colts and the Pats are the only ones that worry me, other than the Squeelers....

eta: I would have preferred a later bye as well, especially given that we got shafted on our bye last year and they owed us a nice week 9 or 10.

Panthers, Saints, Chiefs, bye, Bucs, Raiders, Redskins. Aside from the first game, that's not that bad of a start for the Eagles. Sure, some tougher games will happen, but I think the challenging part of the Eagles schedule will be their divisional games.

We have the Cowboys at home for a Sunday night game. I hope our fans do something that brings national criticism to them. :D

The Giants schedule doesn't look too bad. And we get a week 10 bye which is nice, OTOH, we also have to play Thanksgiving Day, which sucks.

And it's odd that the Giants play Carolina and Minnesota in the last two games of the season again.

Cardinals could well go 13-3 ... or barely slip into the playoffs at 9-7/8-8.

Steelers go from hardest schedule to 4th easiest. And we get the ravens twice in 5 weeks in the last part of the season. Let the streets run red. Oh and squealers? We ain't the ones that went to the NFL to not have to play a night game at your place.

I'm going to quote John Smallwood of the Philadelphia Daily News. We know the where and the when each individual team is playing, but we don't know who they are playing against (by that, he's referring to the players). Teams will probably change dramatically between now and the end of the season.

I'm pretty sure that's a McNabb reference ;)

Indeed it is.

I took a look at the Pats schedule the other day. They definitely don't have it easy. I kept looking for a 3-4 week span over some cupcake teams and couldn't find one.

They do open with the long struggling Bills and the QB-less Jets though. It'd be nice to see them 2-0 with wins over division opponents.

Bears have it super easy... with the addition of Cutler they should have no trouble winning 13 games.

According to ESPN, the Bears, Packers and Vikings have the three easiest schedules. I guess playing in a weak conference and playing a lot of games against the NFC west (another weak division) will make for a weak schedule.

NFL Offseason

Just heard this right now. Thank god he's finally gone.

No More Kornhieser

Hopefully Gruden does better in the booth, even though I thought I saw him on NFL Network during the draft.

I loved the cupcake questions Tirico asked him on Sportscenter last night. I'm leery of anyone who's worked for NFL Network. They have the worst cast of characters there. It's really a dreadful channel that is useful 3 hours a week 8 weeks a year.

I don't know...I never liked John Gruden. He seems like the worst kind of asshole jock.

It's not a case of sour grapes/envy against jocks for me because of some "bad high school experience" -- I played a varsity sport in high school (although not football) and had football team friends and I was "popular" enough. It's just that Gruden seems to be that "Oafish Asshole" football player that every high shool had at least one of.

Let's hope that doesn't come through in the booth. The commentators need to be knowledgeable (and I'm sure Gruden is knowledgeable), but they also need to be likable.

I'm predicting 4 wins for the Lions (yes I'm a Lions fan, making me a slight sadomasochist). They'd be New Orleans (Week 1), Seattle (Week 9), Cleveland (Week 11), and Cincinnati (Week 13).

They might be able to pick up some wins against the Vikings, but will get picked apart by Chicago and Green Bay, both of which had decent quarterbacks, which is not the case in Minnesota.

It's going to be another long season...

EDIT: With regards to Kornheiser, can we get him off PTI too?
