NFL Football 2009

Speaking of Dolphins QBs, what's the word on Pennington? Is he going to try to come back a 3rd surgery on that shoulder, or is he thinking about hanging it up?

I always kinda liked him.

I think he wants to try and play again, but it won't be with the Dolphins. I wish he would hang it up and stay on with the Fins as an assistant QB coach or something. His mind for the game was always better than his physical skills.

but onto other things.
how real is the wildcat as a threat.
in the second new england game last as well as the ravens playoff game and the first game of the season against the falcons it was easily handled.
the fins only got a yard out of it against the falcons.

but then it worked against the colts.

so were the colts and jets games flukes or is it for real.

why were the jets so ill prepared for it.

I think that it's a great running formation that lives and dies in the trenches and with the trigger man. If the d line pushes the o line off then the play is pretty much busted inside and it becomes all on the talents on your trigger man and how well he make the appropriate decision (run outside, pass, hand off, middle run, etc... It has a lot of options to guard against and a team with the right personnel and mindset can make it work.

Look at the game when Ricky was in there as trigger man, didn't do to well. Ronnie on the other hand runs it like a master, makes the right decisions and make something happen. Other teams using it are using it as a gimmick and that's why it's kind of iffy with them. The Fins are using it as a regular package and so it boils down to execution and strategy as to whether or not it will work.

How bout them Broncos? I can't believe they are 5-0 right now and have allowed the fewest points in the NFL. On paper it looked like their team only got worse over the offseason.

I'll admit I'm surprised and kind of rooting for them. I figured the team was heading for dumps this offseason but so far they are playing great football. Hats off to McDaniels and Nolan.

Dear New England,

Please win today. I spent $250 to watch you play today, and if you lose to the winless Titans, I may become a Dolphins fan.

PS - Thanks in advance for wearing the throwbacks today.

The Lions went for a fourth and four at midfield with thirty seconds left in the half and didn't convert. But I'm glad they tried. Schwartz is actually trying to change that losing culture. Good to see.

Browns-Steelers: This is hi-LAR-ious! five STRAIGHT possessions end with a turnover!!!

:guffaw:

The New Orleans/ New York game has me surprised. I was figuring that we would either have a defensive battle or we would have an offensive shootout... I was not expecting a near-blowout!

EDIT- Also, looks like Washington has gone out and did what they do best: giving winless teams their first win.

45-0 now. This is an asskicking the likes of which I don't think I've EVER seen.
I do feel bad for the Titans and their fans, but as a Patriots fan, this has been extremely fun to watch.

And Tom Brady becomes the first player since 1950 to throw five touchdowns in one quarter. :techman:

The CBS affiliate here just gave up on the Tennessee/New England game and switched to Buffalo/NYJ. :guffaw:

Well, the Pack didn't embarrass themselves this week by losing to the Lions. Glad to see they can still beat the poor teams.

Final: 59-0. Holy moly. That is beyond embarrassing for the Titans.
