NFL 2026: The Mendoza Line

49ers cut Brayden Willis after they made the trip to Australia. If he had been claimed, he would've had to fly to his new team. But he didn't get claimed and went onto the practice squad so he got to stay.
 
Well that was a surprise. My beloved Packers are playing on Sunday so I have time to keep track of the other games. There's a guy at work who is a Rams fan and is probably very unhappy.
 
Having watched the highlights of last night's game, I'm revising my prediction.
I think the division is the 49s to lose, the Seahawks are second as a wildcard and the Rams are third.

I think it has been hard to predict things for a couple of decades now. Less training camp, practices and preseason games means teams are even more reliant on the early regular season to iron out issues and build chemistry.

I'm not sure I would read anything into either game. Especially the one played in Australia.
