NFL 2026: The Mendoza Line

Penix still hurt. Tua named QB1 for week 1. That means the Falcons have opened the last six seasons with six different starting QBs.

Tua will probably have just enough of a good season to fool the Falcons into giving him some big money to stick around.

Falcons really shot themselves in the foot with the Penix choice. I say this as someone who thought Penix could’ve been a decent pro.

Moral of the story? Don’t create your own controversy at the QB position.

Happy Opening Week. Remember the season starts on Wednesday Night, then we have a game in Australia and then Sunday comes soon after that. I hope there is a shocker this season, like maybe the Saints winning the NFC South with a 11-6 record or the Rams disappoint because the pressure of being the NFL Darlings got to them*

*As a 49ers fan, I can hope.

I miss when the NFL was on Sunday afternoons and Monday nights. It felt special to watch, even bad games.

Now? It is just a part of the background roar of everything that wants attention.

I think it's inevitable that a Super Bowl will be played on a Sunday Morning on the west coast. Wembley is going to get a Super Bowl in the next 10 years I predict.

It's funny.
I was talking to a customer about this very thing this morning while she was waiting for her car to be serviced.
We both lamented that Sunday's were reserved for going to your grandparents or relatives house to have brunch and watch a double header of football/baseball on one of the Big Three.
Now, everything is open on Sunday and nobody has time to watch sports on television anymore.

Bucs give Mayfield a three-year, $165 million extension. Which also sets the market for someone like Darnold.

I think it is a solid deal for Tampa. They’re just good enough to not have a shot at any top college QB’s.
