NFL 2025: A new era dawns?

Well yeah, life after being on the field can be quite lucrative. I was just referring to him hanging up his helmet - I should have been more clear on that. If he wants to trade it in for a coaching job (or better, commentator), more power to him. Continuing to play, though? Nope. Even Tom Brady knew when to call it quits and take his career to the next level.

Sanders still Browns number three QB.

Yeah. I just heard that on my local sports radio this morning.
Shows you how much confidence the Browns organization has in Saunders as a QB, that they keep Flaco in the number two spot.

Fucking Hell, that was a disaster.

Our kicker needs to be cut immediately, and the special teams coach needs to be fired.

And apparently we need a third running back, one that won't fumble the goddamn ball in the red zone.

Sauce Gardner says the refs target him more because he's on a losing team and that winning teams are allowed to let things play out more.
He’s likely not wrong.

He's wrong. NFL referees are hired, assigned, promoted and fired 99.9% on merit. The other .01% is nepotism and while legacy status might help you get through a cracked door but If you don't show you belong you'll be gone big time.

"The League" is the teams. "The League" has 32 members. The bad teams are going to agree to WWE style scripting that keeps them bad? That makes no sense. There's not "Secret league meetings" or anything. Maybe the fans don't see everything that goes on, but each individual team has 100% access to all the information and instruction the officials are given. Jerry Jones doesn't have a special Key to the referee locker.

If any official were to consistently fail to preform as expected, the patterns would pop off the page and the scrutiny would descend.

Maybe one official could be bribed or threatened individually, that's far more likely than the whole thing being rigged and everyone cool with it.

A common urban legend in DC references Joe Theismann allegedly claiming, "If you're not throwing interceptions, you're not throwing for touchdowns either", as he was always a bit of a risk-taker in his prime and not just a little bit reckless, in some folks' opinion.

Now, I don't know if he ever actually said that (or something similar) - I can't find the precise quote online, but he and a great deal of QB's throughout League history have certainly played like they were holding onto that sentiment.

Today in the NFL:

October 3, 1925: Frankford Yellowjackets move to 2-0 defeating visiting Providence as the Steam Roller lose 7-0 to begin their season 0-1. The two combatants will meet twice more this season, both in Providence on November 22 and December 13.

Lamar Jackson out, Cooper Rush to start Sunday. Fun fact: Since 2018, Baltimore is 4-10 without Jackson.

JJ McCarthy still out, Carson Wentz to start for the third straight week.

I'm playing Madden franchise and just won Super Bowl LX with the Cowboys. Prescott threw for 4,700 yards and 56 TD passes.
