Well yeah, life after being on the field can be quite lucrative. I was just referring to him hanging up his helmet - I should have been more clear on that. If he wants to trade it in for a coaching job (or better, commentator), more power to him. Continuing to play, though? Nope. He's wrong. NFL referees are hired, assigned, promoted and fired 99.9% on merit. The other .01% is nepotism and while legacy status might help you get through a cracked door but If you don't show you belong you'll be gone big time.
